Women

Joy Cartner continues to play consistent golf and her 74 nett on Thursday saw her collect the Monthly Goblet for September, winning by a stroke from Val Plath.  This Thursday members play a single stableford competition.

On Saturday, Sophie Martell won the Goblet with 74 nett on a countback from Fiona Dowling.  This weekend we join the men in the competition sponsored by Trevor Dann.  See you there!

Mens

Fine weather greeted a pretty good field of golfers to compete for the September Monthly Medal.  We welcomed back Bruce Hadley for a game as well as potential new member Gavin Moran.

In A Grade Bill Herring wanted the medal just a little more than Damie Dowling and won on a countback by half a shot!  In B Grade Ken Albion kept his recent good form to win ahead of fast finishing young gun Will Martell.  At least you had something to cheer about Ken seeing as your political mates let you down.  Rundowns went to P Luckett, R Walker, K Savage, B Hadley, R Wagner, M Stanton and T Mittelheuser.

Pin shots were won by P Hutton, B Hadley and J Smith.  This Saturday is sponsored by Childers Pest Control.  Please come along and support Trevor and Tina Dann as they are sure to put on another great day.  Hit off at 12.30pm with names in by 12.15.

Juniors

Last Saturday was September Monthly Medal.  The six hole competition proved to be very competitive with several players having their best score, or were close to their best.  Cooper Rehbein continues to drop shots from his handicap.  Cooper had 42 off the stick to have a nett 16 to win the monthly medal from Ricky Arjona on nett 20.  The least putts went to Kaitlyn Carige with a very good 11 putts!

In the nine hole event Christian Fredriksen continues his run of good form with a nett 34 to win from Zane Fitzgerald on nett 36.  Least putts went to Christian Fredriksen with 17 putts.

Junior Golf will go into recess over the school holidays.  The next round of competition will be Saturday 12 October.  See you all there!

Social Club

Last Sunday, we hosted our first ever Wide Bay Carnival for social golfing groups, a two person Ambrose with partners from different groups or clubs.  66 players teed off over the morning and afternoon sessions sponsored by Club Car and our own Social Golf Club.

In both the men's and women's competitions Childers players were represented in all three placings.  As well, Terry Smallman and Margaret Dennett won the drives and pinshots.

A most enjoyable lunch was provided by the team of Ros, Dineke and Kym.  Many thanks from all of us.  Finally, a special thank you to Golf Cart representative Phil Jennings and our own Bill Long.

You will find full results on the Childers Social Club website

This Sunday we host Eagle's Nest with an 8am hit off for the 18 hole stroke and putt competition.
