Women

Coralie Volgyese (again) won the Monthly Goblet stroke competition scoring nett 63 from runner up Val Plath. Val also won the approach on 6 & 15.  This week we return to a single stableford competition.

Monica Madsen also scored well in the Saturday Goblet competition scoring a nett 66 to win from Robyn Robinson, runner up on a countback from Ruth Gill.  Ruth was able to claim a rundown and the ladies approach on 1 & 10.

This Saturday we join with the men in a fourball best ball competition sponsored by the Friendlies Pharmacy, their first sponsored day for the club, so please come along and support them.  We hope for a successful turnout for the day.

Monday's Competition

On Monday's public holiday two members joined a competitive group of men to enjoy a single stableford competition.  The surprised winner was Ken Albion on 38 points, one clear of Helen Ricciardi and Michael Stanton, with Helen claiming the runner up on a countback.  Rundowns went to Blake Dowling, Dave Robinson, Leigh Hart and Robyn Robinson.  Fiona needs a few more lessons on how to spin the wheel!

Mens

The Golf Committee is very appreciative of the number of people who attended the special meeting that was called to hear the issues that are facing the Committee at present.  A lot of positive thoughts have been expressed which all goes well for the future of our Club.

Three visitors were on hand for the game on Saturday, Bob Peters, Justin Philpott and C Reynolds.

The scoring in both divisions was pretty hot! Michael Stanton claimed A grade with a 67 nett on a countback from Dave Robinson.  Dave and the good wife Robyn have been testing our some courses in Tasmania recently.  Apparently Robyn is very keen to try some more.

In B Grade everyone's favourite golfer, Jack Smith claimed his first Monthly Medal shirt with a brilliant score of 65 nett!  Jack was over the moon and thought he was going to shout the bar.  Well done Jack and keep it up!

Runner up in B Grade was John Mills with 66 nett.  Rundowns went to Damien Dowling, Kev Savage, Rodney Wagner, Travis Mittelheuser, Bob Werne and Bill Kingston.  Pins were won by B Peters,  I Philpott and G Jarrett.

This Saturday is the Friendlies Chemist sponsored day. Members and visitors will be playing a 4 ball best ball stableford.  Hit off at 12.30 with names in by 12.15pm please.

Vets

The fourball best ball competition saw some high scoring, none higher than Bob Carne and Peter Hutton on 51 points.  Runners up were Larry Pershouse and Dave Robinson on 45 points, with Ray Walker and Ray Burrows third on 44 points after a countback.  Best nine holes went to John Roach and Bob Champney.

Approach winners were Bob Carne (in the hole) and Marg Dennett (not quite so close).

The nine hole Chook Run winners were Dave Robinson, Ed Connell (32 nett), Ray Walker (33), Joy Cartner, Bob Cochrane and Paul McCarragher (34).

Next week at 12 noon we play a single stableford (would you believe?)

Social Club

Low scores were again the order of the day for the Monthly Mug stroke and putt competition, with Bill Kirchhof claiming the mug with  nett 25 - who says putting on these greens is hard?

Col Dennett with 28 nett was runner up on a countback from Leigh Hart.  Col also claimed the B Grade longest drive and the combined pin on 4 & 13.  Bill Kirchhof also managed to win the approach on 7 & 16.  Bill Long won the A Grade longest drive and Dave Durie the combined pin approach on 6 & 15.  Peter MacAuley scored 12, the least number of putts.

This Sunday we hope all names are in for the away game at Bundaberg.  Remember to arrive by 7:00am so the cards can be prepared for hit off at 7:30am sharp.
