Women

Vicky MacAulay's 40 points saw her easily win the single stableford competition on Thursday, with Joy Cartner runner up on 35 points.  This Thursday we play a single stroke competition warming up for the Goblet final in November.

On Saturday we joined the men for the Friendlies Pharmacy sponsored four ball best ball competition and enjoyed sharing in the prizes and the tasty afte game snacks.

This Saturday Paul & Tracey's Childers Home Hardware sponsor the game and we hope a large turnout will show our appreciation of their every ready and welcome support of our Club.

Members are urged to attend the working bee on Sunday, perhaps helping with the snacks and lunch (a sexist comment?)

Men

A four ball stableford was the order of play last Saturday, when the Friendlies Pharmacy Childers were kind sponsors for the day.  36 players turned out to complete for a fine array of prizes.

The winners for the event were full time burglars Keith Rule and Larry Pershouse narrowly ahead of Norm Plath and Jack Smith.  Smithy, you are starting to make a habit of winning lately!

Rundowns went to Blake Dowling and Travis Mittelheuser, Bob Champney and Cecily Fay, Clinton Dowling and Fiona Dowling, Trevor Dann and Ed Connell.

Pinshots went to Graeme Anderson, Travis Mittelheuser, Mitch Anderson and Bob Cowell.  There was a Bradman's prize on the day as well and was won by jet setting golfing couple Dave & Robyn Robinson.

This Saturday is Paul & Tracey Bartlett's Childers Home Hardware day.  This is always a big day so make sure you find a partner as we will be playing an American Foursomes.

Please also remember this Sunday morning is our working bee to renovate the greens.  This is your big chance to put in to make our greens the best in the Wide Bay.  Hit off time for the working bee is 7am.  Please bring along things like rakes, shovels, trailers and plenty of muscle and good humour.

Remember many hands make light work!

Vets

The single stableford competition attracted a large field and saw Neil Rieck become the overall winner with a very creditable score of 45 points.  Kev Savage became the A Division winner on 40 points on a countback from Paul McCarragher, with 2nd runner up Nigel Radin on 37 points.  Bob Cochrane's 22 points won him the best nine holes.

Ted Buckland scored 39 points to win B Division on a countback from runner up Bob Champney, on a countback from 2nd runner up Rusty Usmar.  Joan Kelly won the best nine holes with a score of 21 points.

Joy Cartner was nearest the hole with her approach for the women, while Ted Buckland came very close indeed to claim the men's prize.

The nine hole chook run winners were: Bob Champney (30 nett), Paul McCarragher (31), Bob Cochrane, Phil Luckett, Neil Rieck (32), Joan Kelly and Rusty Usmar (33) on a spin.

Next week at 12 noon we play a single stroke event with the VIP Monthly Stroke postponed until the following Tuesday.  The Captain requests that all players be there by 11:45am for a noon hit off.  If you may be late, please ring the clubhouse and let him know.

Social Golf Club

Apart from the wind which sent balls in unusual directions, members enjoyed the 18 hole stroke and putt competition at the Bundaberg Golf Club and the delicious lunch which followed the round.

The winner on the day was Paul McCarragher with 68 nett from Hoss Eberl on 70, with Marg Dennett on 72 nett after a countback from Chris Fitzsimmons.

Peter MacAuley scored the least number of putts, his 27 outstanding on recently cored and sanded greens.  Bill Kirchhof won the A Grade longest drive and Ray Burrows the B Grade Drive.  Chris won the B Grade approach, Bob Champney the pin on 17, Margartet the pin on 14 and Hoss the combined approach.

Hoss also won his matchplay against Mick Ryan, with Leigh Hart winning against Scott White.  The two winners now play the final in the coming weeks.

This Sunday from 7:00am onwards, the club is holding a working bee to core and sand all greens and members are invited to come along bearing the necessary tools to assist.  Any member who do not intend to help can go along to Fraser Lakes course at their own expense, with hit off organised for 7:30am.
