Women

New members Coralie Volgyesi and Vicki McAulay with plus 5 and plus 4 respectively took out the Thursday par event.  This Thursday we return to a single stableford after the challenging game against par.

On Saturday we joined in the fourball best ball sponsored by Trevor Dann's Childers Pest Control and the results are in the men's section of the notes.  This Saturday's competition will also be advertised in that section.

Mens

A fourball Stableford medley was the order of play last Saturday as kind hosts Trevor and Tina Dann from Childers Pest Control sponsored the event.  A good field of 32 players were treated to fine weather and  jovial atmosphere as they negotiated the local greens.

The winners for the day were father and son duo Graeme and Mitch Anderson, with Clinton and Fiona Dowling one shot behind.  The Dowlings were a little worried that their opponents Peter Russo and Helen Ricciardi were getting the better of them until Peter's recurring injuries kicked in and rendered their chances null and void!

Rundowns went to Scott White and Bob Champney, Neale and Travis Mittelheuser, Norm and Val Plath, Keith Rule and Larry Pershouse.  Pins were won by Neale Mittelheuser, Ed Connell, Damien Dowling and Lenny Stallard, with Helen Ricciardi taking out the ladies approach.

This Saturday is a club day and we will be playing  a single stroke event.  Hit off at 12.30 with names in by 12.15 to allow the field to be sent out on time.  See you there!

Vets

Norm and Val Plath sponsored the monthly VIP Stroke competition played in hot windy conditions which some players found difficult to overcome.

In the women's division Vicki McAulay continued her winning form with her nett 76 enough to claim the win from Joy Cartner.  Vicki was also nearest the pin with her approach on 1 & 10.

In the men's A Division Bob Carne won with 70 nett on a countback from Keith Rule, while in B Division Paul McCarragher had the round of the day to score 65 nett, winning from Bob Champney on 68.  Adrian Martin was nearest the pin with his approach.

Bob Champney's incredible 29 nett easily won him the first chicken in the chook run.  Following him were Paul McCarragher on 32, Mick Ryan and Rusty Usmar on 34, Keith Rule and Vicki McAulay with 35 on a spin from Ed Connell.

A special thanks to our sponsors for the day - Norm & Val - and we return next week for a single stableford, that most popular of events.

A reminder that Gayndah Vets are holding their Flood Recovery Open Day on October 01, with nominations closing this coming Tuesday.

Social Golf Club

Last Sunday we enjoyed a visit from one of our favourite rivals, Eagle's Nest ready for the tussle.  This time Childers had the upper hand winning the shield comfortably when the best 10 gross scores were tallied.  No doubt Eagle's Nest will retaliate strongly on their home course.

In the individual competitions, the nett winner for the day was Hoss Eberl with 68 nett on a countback from Leigh Hart, and Peter McAulay came in third on 69 nett.  Gross winner was Terry Smallman with 87, Margaret Dennett was runner up with 90, and Mick Ryan on third with a 91.

Least putts went to Paul McCarragher and visitor Peter Gibley on 30, with Len Stallard winning the B Approach on 1 & 10.  Longest drives went to Peter Chapman in A Grade and Peter Smallman in B Grade.  Leigh Hart won the combined pin/approach on 6 & 15 and Bob Champney picked up the approach on 7 & 16.

A very enjoyable, but hot round was followed by a delectable steak and salad lunch. Thanks once again to Ros and the master chefs.  See you next week when we play the back nine, stroke and putt.
