Women

Coralie Volgyese scored a very positive plus 7 to win the par competition held last Thursday, with Joan Wright getting runner up on plus 2.  This Thursday the Captain has planned an Irish competition which will be explained as further research is carried out.

On Saturday, the Paul and Tracey Bartlett sponsored American Foursomes saw women share in the spoils with results in the men's notes.

This Saturday in conjunction with the men we will play a single stableford competition for club trophies.  Members are again urged to attend the postponed working bee on Sunday starting at 7am.  Help out on the course or help with food will all be appreciated.

Mens

Paul and Tracey Bartlett were sponsors for an American Foursomes on Saturday.  Paul and Tracey are right up there when it comes to selflessly donating their time and money in support of our local club.

The winners for the day bagging a bucket of goodies were Kev Savage & Bob Champney. A long list to follow were Roger & Cynthia Draper, Dave & Robyn Robinson, Neale Mittelheuser & Will Martell, Allan Royan & Geoff Jarrett, Damian Dowling & Graeme Anderson, Norm & Val Plath, Jack Smith & Peter Hutton.

Plenty of approach shots were on offer as well and these went to Will Martell, Roger Draper, Joy Cartner, Fiona Dowling, Damian Dowling and Cyntia Draper.

This Saturday is a Club Day with a single stableford being played.  A good chance for the match play to be completed.  Trevor Dann vs Bill Kingston and Clinton Dowling vs Larry Pershouse.

Please also remember the greens renovation is on this Sunday morning at 7:00am.  Bring along any tools such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows etc that you were going to bring last Sunday.  Many hands make light work!

Juniors

It was a big weekend for junior golf last week with the October Monthly Medal being played.  Cooper Burns was successful in the nine hole division with a Nett 37.  He was two shots in front of Zane Fitzgerald, Curtis Fredriksen and Sophie Martell, all with nett 39.  Sophie putted well to win least putts with 18.  This was Cooper's first nine hole monthly medal and the start of a very successful weekend for him.

In the six hole division several juniors played well, no more so than Kaitlyn Carige who had a nett 17 to win comfortably from her big brother Damon who had a nett 23.  Well done to the Carige family.  Amara Burns and Wesley Hinton were equal on 15 putts with Amara winning on a countback.

On Sunday several players braved the Maryborough Junior Open.  In the six hole division it was a Burns family whitewash.  Amara was the Greg Norman nett winner and the six hole overall nett winner in the girls division.  Amara also won the six hole putting competition.

In the boys six hole division Cooper Burns continued on his winning way and was the nett runner up for the Greg Norman Foundation and was the overall gross runner up.  In the nine hole division Zane Fitzgerald was joing gross runner up in Division 2.  Zane is getting very close to putting together a very good score in the near future! Well done to these three players.

Mitchell Anderson played well in the 18 hole and won the nearest the pin on the 11th hole.  Next week will be the October round of Chip and Putt with play starting at 7:30am Saturday.

Vets

The VIP Monthly Sroke and Round 5 of the Jan Mungomery Salver competition drew a very large field, with 4 visitors from Bargara included.  All players should be congratulated for finishing their rounds in similar time.

Michael Stanton played well under his handicap to score 65 nett and win A Division from Nigel Radin being the runner up on 68 nett. Bill Herring was 2nd runner up on 69 on a countback from Dave Robinson who ended up 3rd runner up.

Jack Smith's outstanding 63 nett to win B Division was just 1 stroke better than runner up Ed Connell (both players beware the anonymous handicapper).  Peter Hutton's 68 nett earned him 2nd runner up, while Kev Denham had to survive a countback to claim 3rd runner up on 69 - all very impressive scores!

Coralie Volgyesi continues to challenge the handicapper scoring nett 66 to win the women's competition from runner up Joan Wright on 70, on a countback from 2nd runner up Margaret Dennett, with Val Plath 3rd runner up on 72.

Monica Madsen won the women's approach, her second shot 1.7 metres from the hole, while Len Stallard casually put his second shot in the hole to win the men's approach.

Jack Smith (30 nett) led the nine hole chook run winners, followed by Ron Denny (31), Ray Burrows, Michael Stanton (32), Margaret Dennett, Col Dennett, Peter Hutton and Ed Connell all with 33nett.

Next week at 12 noon we play a single stableford - a reminder that the postponed working bee is on this Sunday from 7:00am onwards.

Social

Due to the planned coring of the greens, a few members journeyed to Fraser Lakes to join their Social Club in 18 holes of challenging golf, given the work taking place there to improve the course.

Bill Kirchhof fared best of the visitors coming second with Ed Connell third.  Margaret Dennett, Len Stallard and Paul McCarragher collected pinshot/approach shots.

This Sunday from 7:00am onwards the club is holding the postponed working bee to core and sand all greens and members are invited to come along bearing the necessary tools to assist.  Unfortunately the Captain has not been able to organise an alternative venue for social club members that day.  The Charity Day planned for Sunday has been postponed to November 17.
