Women

Rose Cochrane and Margaret Dennett combined well to score 57 points and win the Irish Stableford competition last Thursday.  Coralie Volgyese, Val Plath and Joan Wright scored 48 points to be runners up.

This Thursday we play for our last Monthly goblet and the following Thursday journey to Coral Cove for a round there.

On Saturday in the stableford competition for a club trophy, Robyn Robinson won with 36 points from Joan Kelly on 33 with Joan Wright 2nd runner up on 31 points.  Joy Cartner's 19 points gave her the best nine hole score.  Cynthia Draper put her ball nearest the pin to win the approach and the silver circle.

Next Saturday is our last chance to win a Monthly Goblet for 2013.  Thanks to the women who provided such a delightful snack for the working bee members last Sunday.

Vets

The newly cored and sanded greens proved no problem for a number of Vets players in the single stableford competition played on Tuesday, together with the popular nine hole chicken run.

Overall winner with 43 points was Larry Pershouse on a high over recent days.  A Division Nigel Radin won with 41 points, one ahead of a fast improving Peter Hutton.  Kieth Rule on 20 won the best nine on a spin from Barry Steinke.

Vicki McAulay won B Division with 42 points from Ray Burrows on 40 (countback).  Ed Connell's 23 points gave him the best nine holes.  Bob Cochrane won the men's approach while Coralie Volgyese was nearest the pin for the women.

Chook Run wineers were: Larry Pershouse (30 nett), Bob Champney, Nigel Radin (31), Vicki McAulay (32), Ray Burrows and Barry Steinke (33).

Next week is Melbourne Cup Tuesday so a truncated round is planned.  At 12 noon we play a single stableford competition hoping to complete 9 holes before adjourning at 1:30 to watch the race and enjoy a tasty lunch (all members are asked to bring a plate).  Play will resume at approximately 2:15pm to complete the round.

Juniors

Last week Junior golf had the October round of the Chip and Putt competition.  In the six hole division Cooper Burns won with 74, closely followed by his sister Amara on 77.  Least putts went to Ricky Arjona with 82.

In the nine hole division Will Martell took it out with a 60 closely followed by his sister Sophie Martell on 62.  Least Putts went to Curtis Fredriksen.

This week the six holers will start at 7:30am for a stroke round while the nine holers will start at 7:00am for a stableford. See you there!

Social

Due to the postponed coring and sanding of the Isis greens, no social club golf competition was organised, with a number of members assisting with the working bee.

This week Biggenden travels to Isis for an 18 hole round, the second in the challenge series.  Brekkie and lunch will be provided - we need to win this time around.

The Monthly Mug has been postponed until November 10.  The Captain has reminded us that the final day for scoring in the annual competition will be the December Monthly Mug.
