Men

Members enjoyed a club sponsored single stableford competition on Saturday on a course with great run for the short hitters.

In A Division Bill Herring continued his consistent form scoring 39 points to win from Norm Plath on 37.  Rundowns went to Bill Kingston and Phil Luckett.

In B Division Brett Martell recorded the elusive 40 points to lead Ken Albion by one point, with rundowns going to Travis Mittelheuser and Larry Pershouse.

Phil Luckett won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10 and Ivan Philpott the B Division approach on the same hole.  On 4 & 13 Bill Kingston won the pinshot in A Division and Ken Albion took out the B Division.

This Saturday members play for the August Monthly Medal, one of only four medals left for this year.  See you there!

Women

Joy Cartner is playing consistent golf and her 34 stableford points on Thursday were enough to win the single stableford competition, one point ahead of Joan Wright.  This Thursday September Goblet is up for grabs, with the other Goblet played for on Saturday.

In the Wide Bay Burnett District Women's Championships played at Kingaroy, five members participated.  Joan Wright & Margaret Denett won rundowns in the Foursomes, Cecily Fay scored well in the stroke event with 91 off the stick and rundown, while Joan Kelly recorded 38 points in the C Grade Stableford.   Well done ladies!

On Saturday, Robyn Robinson won the Club Single Stableford event with 37 points ahead of Sophie Martell.  Robyn also won the approach.

See you at either or both of the Monthly Goblet Competitions.

Vets

A large field, including 2 visitors competed in the first round of the Frank Cooper Cup in the annual par event over 2 rounds - the second round to follow later in the year.

The overall winner for the day was Rusty Usmar in positive territory with a plus 3 score and collecting a worthwhile trophy.  In A Division, Niel Rieck won with plus 2 from Mick Ryan on plus 1, with Margaret Dennett's plus 2 winning her the best nine holes.

In B Division Vicki McAuley won with plus 2 on a countback from Paul McCarragher.  Joy Cartner won the best nine holes.

Joy also won the women's approach and Paul the men's approach, very close to the hole!

Margaret Dennett led the Chook Run winners with 33 nett from Ron Denny, Ted Buckland and Bob Champney (34), Mick Ryan (35) and Dave Robinson (36) on a spin from a number of disappointed members.

Next week we return to the perennial favourite, the single stableford competition and of course the nine hole Chook Run.  Hit off is 12 noon sharp.

Social Golf Club

Monthly Mug Day attracted a good field to compete in this stroke and putt event, over the back nine thanks to the Captain's decision to not let the game become boring.

Ed Connell took up the challenge ending with an amazing score of nett 25 (10 under par) - to no one's surprise, his handicap has been slashed!  Ken Albion's 32 earned him 2nd place and Mick Ryan's 33 placing him 3rd.  Another surprise, when Ken claimed the number of putts - makes it easier if you putt in off the green apparently.

Hoss Eberl won the B Grade Approach on 10, Paul McCarragher the pin on 13 and Leigh Hart the combined approach on 15.  Bill Long continues to punish his golf balls, easily winning the B Grade longest drive.

This Sunday, we host our first ever Wide Bay Carnival for social golfing groups, a two person ambrose with partners from different groups or clubs.  HIt off times are 7:30am and 12:30pm, with lunch after the morning field comes in and before the afternoon field hits off.  Hope your name has been nominated, but if not please contact Paul.
