Golf Notes 16 August 2016

On Thursday the ladies played a fourball best ball stableford, with Diane Rowley & Vicki McAulay winning with 44 points. This Thursday the competition will be advised before hitting off at 8:30am.

Women

On Thursday the ladies played a fourball best ball stableford, with Diane Rowley & Vicki McAulay winning with 44 points.  This Thursday the competition will be advised before hitting off at 8:30am.

On Saturday the women joined the men in the fourball best ball competition with limited success.  Next week we will be playing a single stableford competition sponsored by IGA.  See you there.

Men

Members enjoyed a club sponsored four ball best ball in the warm spring-like conditions on Saturday afternoon. Mark McAulay and Michael Stanton recorded 44 stableford points to be one shot ahead of runners-up, Jeff Freeman and Dean Page.
Rundowns went to Kev Savage and Damien Dowling, Craig Reynolds and Bill Herring, Phil Luckett and Ken Albion, all on 42 points.
Kev Savage (11m) won the A Division pinshot on 1&10, Jeff Freeman (0.59m) the B Division approach. On 4&13, Kieth Rule (431.85m) won the A Division pinshot and Mark McAulay (2.53m) the B Division pinshot. Vicki McAulay (0.60m) the ladies’ approach.
Next Saturday, IGA sponsor the day and we can look forward to a single stableford for the competition.

Vets

The very popular VIP Stroke competition for August sponsored by Phil and Pat Pearce attracted another large number of contenders for the trophies on offer.

Kev Denham with 68 nett won the Men’s A Division from Bill Cowan on 70, second on a countback from Bill Herring – the rundown went to Peter Hrelja on 73.

Michael Stanton with 70 nett claimed the Men’s B Division from Larry Pershouse on 71, with Len Stallard third on 73. Rusty Usmar won the rundown on 74, on a countback.

Val Plath recorded 67 nett to win the Women’s Division from Diane Rowley on 71, with Joy Cartner third on 72 – the rundown going to Jennifer McKay on 73, on a countback.

Barry Steinke (0.37m) won the Men’s approach on 1&10; Bill Herring (in the hole) the Combined approach on 4&13; and Margaret Dennett (0.81m) the Ladies’ approach on 6&15.

The NAGA went to Gary Willoughby and Cynthia Draper, with Nigel Radin winning the non-winners’ prize.
Len Stallard led the Chook Run winners with 28 nett from Joy Cartner and Vicki Wyeth on 31, with Peter Hrelja and Lisa Cooney with 32 winning the last birds on a spin.

June was thanked for selecting and preparing the tasty delicacies funded so generously by Phil and Pat Pearce – much appreciated.

Back to normal next week with a single stableford with hit-off at 12 noon as usual.
