Women
On Thursday the ladies enjoyed a secret partner stableford competition with the winning pair being Kerry Schnack and Margaret Dennett with a combined score of 58 points.
This Thursday’s competition will be announced prior to the game.
On Saturday Kerry Schnack returned to win the single stableford competition sponsored by Bill and Jan Kingston. Her score of 35 points was followed by Vicki McAulay and Jennifer McKay both on 27 points. Cecily Fay (1.9m) won the ladies’ approach on 4&13.
Next week we play in the stableford competition sponsored by the Friendlies’ Pharmacy.
Men
The postponed Bill and Jan Kingston’s sponsored day took place on a warm spring-like afternoon with some very competitive scores in the single stableford event.
Nigel Radin led the way with 41 points, a clear winner, with Bill Cowan second on 37 points, followed by Harry Zawacki on 36. Rundowns went to Craig Reynolds and Will Martell (35), and to Ray Walker, Peter Hrelja and Mark McAulay (34).
Bill Cowan (3.35m) also won the A Division pinshot on 1&10, Ben Van Der Valk (0.53m) the B Division approach. Craig Reynolds (4.5m) won the A Division pinshot on 4&13, Mark McAulay (6.6m) the B Division pinshot.
Members showed their appreciation of Bill and Jan’s generous trophies and fine cuisine, served in Bill’s inimitable style.
Next week the Friendlies’ Pharmacy sponsors another single stableford competition and members can again look forward to an array of fine prizes.
Finalists in the fourball best ball Matchplay are reminded to complete their match by Saturday August 13.
Vets
The ever popular single stableford attracted a goodly number to play in the chilly afternoon breeze. Peter Hutton won with 38 points from Kev Denham, second on 37 points on countback from Craig Reynolds, third on countback from Nigel Radin.
Lisa Cooney won B Division with 35 points, on countback from Ted Buckland, with Bob Champney third on countbacks from Ed Connell and Val Plath.
Kev Denham (0.26m) won the Men’s approach on 1&10; Bob Champney (0.165m) the Combined approach on 4&13; Joan Wright (1.19m) the Women’s approach on 6&15.
Ted Buckland led the Chook Run winners with 28 nett, from Kev Denham, Kieth Rule (31 each), and Joan Wright on 32 (on a spin).
