2014 Club Championship Results

The final two rounds saw only one major upset on the final day, with Mark McAulay in C Grade regaining his second day lead to win by a few strokes from Bob Champney.

Men

As predicted Blake was the Dowling who turned in four great rounds of golf to card a Championship record score of four under par, 276 and win the A Grade gross Championship by a convincing margin from his brother Damien.  Three players tied for the A Grade nett trophy on 287, with Kev Savage winning from Clinton Dowling on a countback. Dave Robinson thus winning the overall 72 hole nett with his score of 287.

Michael Stanton led the B Grade gross competition consistently throughout the four rounds and while closely pressed coming into the final round managed to hold his nerve while his main rivals lost their way a little.  Michael won with a gross score of 336 ahead of runner up Peter Steel.  Larry Pershouse scored 287 to win the B Grade nett, two shots ahead of runner up Norm Plath.

Mark McAulay won the C Grade gross with a steady final round to lead front runner Bob Champney by four shots.  In the men's C Grade nett Len Stallard managed to win from runner up Roger Draper, also by four shots.

Women

Helen Ricciardi scored 339 and won the women's A Grade gross convincingly from Fiona Dowling, while Cynthia Draper won the A Grade nett ahead of Margaret Dennett.  Cecily Fay won the B Grade gross well, recording 379 strokes with Joy Cartner runner up.  Joan Wright won the B Grade nett with Robyn Robinson runner up.  Fiona Dowling won the special trophy for the major women's putter of the championships.  Val Plath deservedly won the overall 72 hole nett - a welcome surprise.

Generouos sponsors Paul & Tracey Bartlett from Childers Home Hardware were warmly welcomed and presented all the winners with the prizes obtained from local company Myatt Jewellers.  Members had provided many plates of food from the savoury to the sinful which were enjoyed with relish by the members as they awaited the presentations.

Most of us have to wait another year to win a trophy.
