Golf Notes 10 February 2015

Sophie Martell with 72 nett won the women's first Saturday Monthly Goblet from Robyn Robinson on 74, with Joan Wright winning the rundown. Robyn won the approach on 4 & 13 and Sophie on 6 & 15.

Sophie Martell with 72 nett won the women's first Saturday Monthly Goblet from Robyn Robinson on 74, with Joan Wright winning the rundown.  Robyn won the approach on 4 & 13 and Sophie on 6 & 15.

On Thursday Diane Rowley won the best nine holes stableford competition with 26 points from Coralie Volgyesi on 20 points, second on a spin from Vicki Wyeth and Lisa Cooney, with Vicki winning the rundown.

This Thursday we play our first Thursday Monthly Goblet, with Thursday hit off times for February at 8:00am.

On Saturday, we will play a single stableford competition while the men play the qualifying round for their pairs match play championship.

Men

Members enjoyed a pleasant afternoon for the first Monthly Medal of the year.

The scores in A Division were very impressive, with Michael Stanton winning with nett 66 from Kieth Rule on a countback.  Rundowns went to Peter Russo on 68, Ivan Philpott on 70 and Nigel Radin with 71.

Larry Pershouse won B Division with nett 70 from John Hinton on 72, second on a countback from Ken Albion, with Peter Hutton also collecting a rundown.

Ivan also won the approach on 1 & 10, with Michael Stanton winning the A Division pinshot on 4 & 13.

This Saturday we play a fourball stroke competition for the qualifying round of the pairs Match Play.  We hope all members can find a partner for this important event.

Vets

The fourball best ball stableford competition tested the Captain's patience as he endeavoured to ensure every member had a playing partner for the afternoon's round.  New pairings shared most of the trophies, but veteran pair Phil Luckett & Ken Albion won the major prize with a score of 46 points.

Vince Kennedy and Leigh Hart were runners up on 44 on a countback from Cynthia Draper and Val Plath, 2nd runners up from Charlie Livick and Bob Champney.  Niel Rieck & Kieth Rule won the last rundown with 43.

Barry Steinke won the men's approach on 1 & 10, Robyn Robinson the women's approach on 6 & 15, and Cynthia Draper won the approach on 6 & 15 putting her second shot in the hole.

Chook run winners were: Vince Kennedy 29 nett, Val Plath 32 nett, Phil Luckett, Nigel Radin, Bob Champney & Rae McCliskie all on 33.
