Golf Notes 02 June 2015

On Thursday Vicki Wyeth won the single stableford competition with 40 points from Kerry Schnack on a countback. Rundowns went to Vicki McAulay on 39 and Jennifer McKay on 34.

Women

On Thursday Vicki Wyeth won the single stableford competition with 40 points from Kerry Schnack on a countback.  Rundowns went to Vicki McAulay on 39 and Jennifer McKay on 34. Margaret Dennett won the best nine holes with 21 points.  Vicki McAulay also won the approach.

This Thursday the Monthly Goblet for June has been deferred to June 11.  This week we will play a single stableford.

In the Saturday single stroke competition, Helen Ricciardi with nett 68 won from Vicki McAulay on 72 nett.  Rundowns went to Val Plath on 74, Sophie Martell and Joan Kelly, both on 75. Helen also won the approach shot with .37metres.

On Sunday Kerry Schnack with 66 nett edged out Sophie Martell on 67, with rundowns to Cynthia Draper on 71, and Monica Madsen on 72.  Cynthia Draper won the ladies' approach.

Next weekend we play the final two rounds of the Championships, with individual stroke rounds on both days.  Remember on Sunday it will be ealier hit off.  Please remember to bring a plate on Sunday for after the game and presentations. 

Men & Women's Club Championships

Balmy weather welcomed players to the first two days of the Club Championships for 2015 on the weekend.  After 2 days Damien Dowling and Kev Savage are leading the A Grade Men's event, one shot ahead of Mitch Anderson and Ray Walker.  In B Grade Craig Reynolds has a 3 shot lead over Bill Cowan with Mick Hickey 3 shots back.  In C Grade Roger Draper is 5 shots clear of Jeff Freeman, with Mark McAulay a further 5 shots behind. 

In the A Grade Women's Championships Helen Ricciardi is leading on 175, with Sophie Martell & Cynthia Draper on 178. Vicki McAulay is currently first in B Grade on 193, with Joy Cartner on 200, hoping to close the gap over the next 2 weeks.

Men

Individual single stroke competitions were also held on both days.  On Saturday Mick Hickey scored 67 nett to win the A Division competition from Ray Walker on 68. Rundowns went to Bill Cowan and Phil Luckett, both on 69.  Peter Hutton won B Division with 69 nett while Jack Smith scored 71 nett to be runner up.  Rundowns went to Christian Fredriksen and Geoff Jarrett both on 73.

Kev Savage won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10, while Geoff Jarrett won the B Division approach putting his shot in the hole.  On 4 & 13 Ray Walker won the A Division pinshot and Jeff Freeman won the B Division pinshot.

On Sunday scores were significantly better, with Peter Hrelja scoring 64 nett to win A Division from Craig Reynolds on 65, with rundowns going to Peter Steel on 66 and Bill Cowan on 69.  In B Division Len Stallard scored 69 nett to win on a countback from Curtis Fredriksen, runner up on a countback from Christian Fredriksen who collected a rundown. 

Mick Hickey won the A Divison pinshot on 1 & 10, while Norm Plath won the B Division approach.  On 4 & 13 Clinton Dowling took out the A Division pinshot with B Division a skinner.

A small field also competed in the BBB single stableford competition held on Thursday Show Holiday.  Adrian Martin cleaned up with 41 points from Hoss Eberl on 37, with rundowns to Ken Albion and Norm Plath.  Hoss also won the approach on 1 & 10.

Next weekend we repeat the performance, with an earlier start on Sunday.  This time will be announced on Saturday.  Remember to bring a plate for after the game on Sunday. 

Vets

Vicki Wyeth was the overall winner in the single stableford competition with 40 points.  A Division winner was Ray Walker on 37, with Kev Denham runner up on 34 on a countback from Col Dennett.  Best nine holes went to Larry Pershouse on 20 points.

Rose Cochrane won B Division with 37 points on a countback from Joan Kelly, with Val Plath 2nd runner up.

Norm Plath put his 2nd shot in the hole to win the men's approach on 1 & 10, Joy Cartner took the women's approach on 6 & 15 and Michael Stanton took it out on 4 & 13.

Chook Run winners were led by Ron Denny on 31, followed by Larry Pershouse, Ray Walker and Vicki Wyeth all on 32, Rose Cochrane and Vicki McAulay both had 33 to round out the field.

Next Tuesday we play stroke versus par. Much to look foward to.  See you there for the 12 noon hitoff.
