Women

Coralie Volgyese scored a nett 63 to win both the Thursday finalists clash and the competition of the day, with Margaret Dennett runner up in both competitions scoring a 67 nett. Both fine scores! Joy Cartner was third placed with 71 nett and also claimed the approach with her second shot .07 metres from the hole.

On Saturday, on a rain shortened nine hole competition, Robyn Robinson claimed the double - her nett 31.5 giving her the win for the finalists title and the day's competition, winning on a countback from an unlucky Vicki McAulay.  Sophie Martell was placed third.

This Thursday we play a Mulligans as the season draws to a close.  On Saturday, after the AGM which begins at 11:00am, members usually enjoy a tiger stableford.  See you there for both.

Mens

Last Saturday was the final for the Monthly Medal winners who had won a medal throughout the year. Unfortunately rain and a storm spoilt the party and the match was reduced to nine holes.  Trevor Dann managed to win from Clinton Dowling on a countback, with Ken Albion placing 3rd.

In the overflow Roger Draper left his best game to the latter part of the year by scoring a pretty handy 33.5 nett to win from Terry Smallman, Luke Mittelheuser, Mark McAulay and Bob Champney.

The pin shot went to Bill Herring.  This Saturday is a special day on the calendar as it is our Annual General Meeting.  This is your opportunity to hear first hand about the workings of your club.  The meeting gets underway at 11:00am with a tiger stableford played immediately after the formalities.

This will be your chance to win a Christmas cake.  Please be on time for the meeting.

Vets

Rivalry, as usual was intense as qualifiers hit off for the first ever final of the Monthly VIP winners, with only one overall winner of the A Division, B Division and Women players able to win a place on the new shield.

With many scoring below par, Ed Connell with 67 nett managed to emerge as the inaugural winner of the VIP shield to be presented at the forthcoming break up dinner and presentation on December 18.

In A Division Kev Savage with 68 nett won on a countback from Ray Walker, with Barry Steinke third.  Len Stallard on 68 was the B Division winner on a countback from Rusty Usmar, with Kev Denham third on 69.

Joy Cartner won the Women's Division on 69, from Margaret Dennett on 71, with Rose Cochrane third on 72, on a countback.

Joy also won the women's approach while Phil Luckett was a mere .135 metres from the hole with his approach.

Amazing scores were the order of the day in the Chook Run with scores of 32 needed to spin to win!  Winners were Jack Smith, Coralie Volgyesi, Vicki McAulay (nett 30), Joan Kelly, Peter Hutton, Val Plath, Len Stallard and Bill Herring all came in with 32.

Next week we play our favourite - the single stableford.  See you there for a 12 noon hit off.

Social

A fine morning welcomed members to the last Monthly Mug for 2013 and the remaining opportunity to add points to the year's tally for the best player of the year.

Ken Albion at last managed a win scoring nett 29 for his first mug of the year.  Dave Durie showed signs of returning form to score 33 and place second, on a countback from Michael Stanton.

Ken also managed to be nearest the pin on 6, while Col Dennett scored only 11 puts in his round, the least number by far.  Ed Connell was nearest the pin on 4 & 13, while Paul McCarragher hit the longest drive on 2 & 3, but could only claim the B Grade longest drive - sorry Paul.

This Sunday we play a stroke and putt competition over the back nine - see you there for a 7:30am hit off.

Nominations for the various positions on the Committee have been called.  The nomination form is in the clubhouse.  Voting takes place at the end of the season AGM on December 05.
