Golf Notes 04 August 2015

Members enjoyed a single stableford won by Kerry Schnack with 35 points on a countback from Vicki McAulay, with Cecily Fay winning a rundown. Cecily also won the approach on 4 & 13.

Women

This Thursday members compete for the Monthly Goblet for August with hit off at 8:30am.

Last Saturday members contested the Monthly Goblet for August with Cynthia Draper winning with 74 nett from Joan Kelly on a countback.  Vicki McAulay with 75 collected a rundown.  Coralie Volgyesi won the ladies approach on 6 & 15.

Thanks to those who brought a plate for after the game.

Next Saturday the Friendlies Pharmacy sponsor a single stableford, while on Sunday members play in the Isis Ladies Open Carnival with a shotgun start at 9:00am.  We hope for an excellent field.

Men

Strong fields contested the August Monthly Medal, particularly in A Division, led by Dave Robinson on nett 68 from Larry Pershouse on 69, with rundowns to Peter Russo, Craig Reynolds both on 70 and Bill Cowan on 71. 

Rodney Wagner with 72 nett won B Division on a countback from Len Stallard, with rundowns to Ian McKay on 73 and Geoff Jarrett on 74.

Mark McAulay won the A Division pinshot and Ken Albion the B Division approach on 1 & 10.  Ray Walker won the A Division pinshot and Ian McKay the B Division pinshot on 4 & 13.

Members enjoyed a tasty after game snack before presentations were made.

This Saturday the Friendlies Pharmacy sponsors a single stableford with a generous array of prizes to be won.  See you there for the 12.30pm hit off.

Vets

After a dismal morning the skies cleared for the Vets to hit off in pleasantly warm conditions, playing a single stableford.

The A Division was very tightly contested with Larry Pershouse on 39 points defeating golfing partner Kieth Rule, with an unlucky Dave Robinson 3rd on 37 points.

In B Division Ken Albion won with 37 points from Ed Connell on 35, with Adrian Martin 3rd on 34 points.  Ken also won the Men's approach on 1 & 10, while Cynthia Draper won the combined on 4 & 13 and also took out the ladies approach on 6 & 15.

Ed Connell led the Chook Run winners with nett 29 from Dave Robinson and Kieth Rule both on 31, Val Plath on 32 and Roger Draper and Larry Pershouse rounding out the winners on 33. 

Next week members play for a fourball best ball in preparation for the Wide Bay Vets Fourball best ball carnival on next Thuesday.  See you there for the 12:00 noon hit off.
