Golf Notes 04 February 2014

On Thursday the first official competition of the season was a single stableford event, with the best nine to be selected. Vicki Wyeth scored 21 points to win by one point from Val Plath and Vicki McAulay, with Val runner up on a spin.

On Thursday the first official competition of the season was a single stableford event, with the best nine to be selected.  Vicki Wyeth scored 21 points to win by one point from Val Plath and Vicki McAulay, with Val runner up on a spin.

This Thursday we continue with a single stableford competition.  See youi there for the 7:30am hit off.  Our Thursday Monthly Goblet competition begins on February 20.

Vicki McAulay won the first Saturday Monthly Goblet for the year with a nett score of 73, from Sophie Martell on 75.  Sophie put her second shot in the hole on 1 & 10 from quite a way out, to win the ladies approach.  Rundowns went to Vicki Wyeth, Cynthia Draper and Joan Wright.

This week we play a fourball best ball competition, so find a compatible partner and join us for the 12:30 hit off. 

Men

On Saturday, the first Monthly Medals for the year were closely contested. Particularly in the A Division where the Anderson father and son had outstanding games, with Mitchell on 65 nett, one ahead of his father Graeme to claim the medal.  Rundowns went to Clinton Dowling (70), Neale Mittelheuser (71) and Kev Savage (72).

In B Division John Mills with 72 nett won on a countback from Will Martell, with rundowns to Travis Mittelheuser (71), Mark McAulay and Ivan Philpott both on 74.

Damien and Blake Dowling claimed the A Division pinshots. Damien on 1 & 10, Blake on 4 & 13, with Ken Albion winning the B Division on 4 & 13.  Travis Mittelheuser won the B Division approach on 1 & 10.

This Saturday we play the qualifying round of the fourball match play championships, with the top 8 pairs to compete for the championship.

Vets

The single stableford competition saw only one player better par for the day.  Nigel Radin made it his day with 40 stableford points to be the overall winner.

In A Division Kev Savage managed 35 points to win from Mick Ryan on 34, beating Rusty Usmar into 2nd runner up on a countback.  Bill Herring's 18 points won him the best nine holes.

Vicki Wyeth won B Division with 34 points from 1st runner up Jack Smith on 32 from Rae McCliskie 2nd runner up on a countback.  Ed Connell scored 23 points to claim the best nine holes. We won't mentio the back nine!

Nigel also won the men's approach and Rae the women's on 1 & 10.

Chook Run winners were: Ed Connell (28), Nigel Radin (32), Kev Savage and Kieth Rule (33), Rusty Usmar (34) and Peter Hutton with 35.
