Golf Notes 04 February 2017

The first monthly medal of the year saw Coralie Volgyesi win with 71 nett from Vicki McAulay on 72. Vicki was second on a countback from Joy Cartner. Kerry Schnack won the approach.

Women

The first Monthly Medal of the year saw Coralie Volgyesi win with 71 nett from Vicki McAulay on 72.  Vicki was second on a countback from Joy Cartner.  Kerry Schnack won the approach.

In Saturday's first Monthly Medal, Fiona Dowling enjoyed a fine round with 69 nett to win from Joan Kelly on 72, Helen Ricciardi on 73 and Cynthia Draper on 74 (on a countback from Vicki McAulay).  Fiona also won the approach on 6 & 15.

This Thursday we play a single stableford, which will also be the competition for Saturday.

Men

The February Monthly Medal attracted a strong field in both divisions.  In A Division Phil Luckett recorded nett 66 to win from Nigel Radin on 67, with rundowns to Bill Cowan and Chris Crouch, both on 68.

In B Division Jeff Freeman and Norm Plath scored 69 nett, with Jeff winning on a countback.  Rundowns went to Roger Draper on 70 and Harry Zawacki on 71.

Chris Crouch won the A pinshot on 1 & 10, with Ben Van der Valk the B approach.  Clinton Dowling won the A Pinshot on 4 & 13, with no B Division player reaching the green.

Thanks to those who brought a plate for the tasty after game snack.

Next week members play the qualifying round for the fourball best ball matchplay championship, in conjunction with a single stableford.  Nominations are now open for the Woodgate Beach Hotel sponsored single Match Play.

Vets

Last Tuesday heralded the first VIP Stroke event for the year, sponsored by the McAulays and the Volgyesis, and we saw a large field enjoy the competition and after game repast.

Mark McAulay won the Men's A Division with a blistering 63 nett from Mick Hickey on 66.  Ray Walker also had a good round finishing with 69, while Laurie Dakin on 70 and Craig Reynolds and Allan Ball rounded out the winners both with 71 nett.

Harry Zawacki also recorded 63 nett to win the B Division from Phil Pearce on 65.  Peter Hutton on 69, Wayne Faulkner and Ken Albion rounded off the B Division winners both scoring 72 nett.

Coralie Volgyesi with 70 nett won the ladies from Joy Cartner on 73.  Lisa Cooney, Joan Wright, Val Plath and Rae McCliskie all got rundowns.

The approach shots were won by Clinton Dowling on 1, Nigel Radin on 10, Ray Walker on 4, Ben Van der Valk on 13, Coralie Volgyesi on 6 & Coralie again on 15.

Kev Denham won the award for most use of the course.

Chook Run winners were:

Harry Zawacki 26, Mark McAulay 28, Peter Hutton 29, Lisa Cooney 29 and Phil Pearce on 30.
