Golf Notes 04 June 2017

The Championships concluded on Saturday, with most of the predicted winners successful. Clinton Dowling won the Men's Open from Kev Savage, Peter Steel the B Grade from Michael Stanton, and Ben Van Der Valk the C Grade from Ivan Philpott. Fiona Dowling made it a family affair winning the Ladies' Open.

Club Championships

The Championships concluded on Saturday, with most of the predicted winners successful.  Clinton Dowling won the Men's Open from Kev Savage, Peter Steel the B Grade from Michael Stanton, and Ben Van Der Valk the C Grade from Ivan Philpott. 

Peter Hrelja was the A Grade nett winner from Craig Reynolds, Norm Plath the B Grade nett winner from Larry Pershouse, and Phil Pearce the C Grade nett winner from Roger Draper.

Fiona Dowling made it a family affair winning the Ladies' Open, while Cecily Fay won the B Grade event.  Kerry Schnack was the overall nett winner.

For the men, the draw for Seb & Allan's Match Play is posted on the Club notice board.  The first round is to be completed on or before July 08, which is the day of the annual President versus Captain's Match Play competition.

Women

On Thursday Joan Wright won the Monthly Medal for June with a nett score of 71, from Sandy Kirk on 72 and Jennifer McKay on 74.  Kerry Schnack won the approach on 1 & 10.

On Saturday, the Monthly Medal (played in conjunction with the Championships) was won by Cecily Fay with 67 nett, from Fiona Dowling on 74.  Rae McCliskie won the approach on 6 & 15.

Men

June's Monthly Medal, played in conjunction with the Championships, was won by Peter Hrelja with 69 nett in the A Division from Ray Walker on 70.  In B Division Norm Plath won with 68 nett from Ben Van Der Valk on a countback.

Next Saturday members play a club sponsored single stableford to recover from the past three weekends of stroke play.

Vets

On Tuesday June 06, many members will travel to Maryborough to compete for the Childerborough Cup with a 9:30am start.

Last Tuesday members played the challenging single par competition. Michael Stanton with plus 5 won the A Division from Dev Denham on plus 3, with Bill Cowan next coming home with a square.

Ken Backhaus with plus 1 won the B Division on a countback from Rae McCliskie, with Len Stallard third with square.
