Golf Notes 07 April 2015

Men and Women

The expected showers did not deter some members who were determined to play the BBB holiday single stableford competition.  Fortunately not one drop of rain spoiled their afternoon, although the heavy conditions made play difficult for some players.

Blake Dowling played under par to record 39 points, a score which included an eagle on the par 4 15th hole.  One point back and the clubhouse leader for quite some time was Robyn Robinson, followed by Clinton Dowling on 36, Bob Champney on 35, Dave Robinson on 33 and Ray Walker on 32.

John Hinton won the best nine holes with 20 points, while Blake also won the approach on 1 & 10 - .01m, with Dave Robinson putting his second shot in the hole to win the approach on 4 & 13.

The day closed in a convivial atmosphere with a reminder to back up on Monday afteroon for a repeat performance.

Easter Monday proved warm and sunny and welcomed a select group to another BBB, with some outstanding performances.

In particular, visitor and former club member Chris Crouch and current club champion Blake Dowling each scored three under par 67s, just one above the course record, both currently sharing the record of 66.  Chris managed to record 42 points to win, while Blake was edged out to runner up on a countback by Robyn Robinson with 40 points, her gross score being her best ever.

Clinton Dowling claimed the next rundown after Blake with 35 points on a countback from Ken Albion who managed to win the best nine with 21.  Clinton also won the approach, his second shot in the hole.

Another pleasant afternoon's golf and socialising, in spite of some intense rivalry to win the ticket.

Next Saturday is Monthly medal for April.  See you there for the 12:30pm hit off and a reminder to bring a plate please.

Women

Diane Rowley scored nett 72 to claim the Thursday Monthly Goblet for April, with Joy Cartner runner up on 74. Rundowns went to Lisa Cooney and Margaret Dennett.  Vicki Wyeth won the ladies approach on 4 & 13.

This Thursday we return to our single stableford competition at the usual hit off time.

On Saturday only a few members played, many kept away by the showery weather.  Robyn Robinson scored very well as recorded in the men's notes.

Next Saturday we play for our Monthly Goblet and hope for a very competitive afternoon's golf.

Vets

Vets played a single stableford competition on Tuesday in somewhat threatening conditions with a few players scoring better htan par, none better than overall winner for the day Chris Fitzsimmons, with 40 points.

A Division winner was Dave Robinson on 37 points from Col Dennett on 36, with Ray Walker winning best nine holes with 20 points.  Adrian Martin won B Division with 37 points on a countback from Kev Denham, whose second nine let him down.  Roger Draper won best nine holes with a score of 20.

Ray Walker also won the men's approach on 1 & 10, Vicki Wyeth the women's on 6 &15, and Col Dennett the combined approach on 4 & 13.

Kev Denham and Jack Smith led the Chook Run winners with 31 nett from Roger Draper, Joan Kelly, Rusty Usmar and Ray Walker all on 32 on a spin, with one nameless player missing out.  Thank you Mark.  Nigel Radin on 31, Bob Werne, Peter Hutton, Kieth Rule and Chris Crouch all on 33 rounded out the winners.

This Tuesday is our annual Isis Vets Carnival with hopes nearly every Vet is entered.  Nominations close on Thursday evening. Shotgun starts at 7:30am and 12:15pm.
