Golf Notes 07 May 2017

On Thursday Joan Wright won the May Monthly Medal with 68 nett from Vicki Wyeth on 70. Kerry Schnack won the approach.

Women

On Thursday Joan Wright won the May Monthly Medal with 68 nett from Vicki Wyeth on 70.  Kerry Schnack won the approach.

This Thursday members play a single stableford.

On Saturday Rae McCliskie had a welcome return to form recording 69 nett to win the May Monthly Medal from Fiona Dowling on 72.  Rae also won the approach on 6 & 15. Rundowns went to Helen Ricciardi on 73, Cynthia Draper on 74 and Joan Wright on 76.

Fiona was presented with a Woodgate Hotel voucher for winnng the final of the single matchplay competition, winning one up on the 20th hole after a dour struggle with against opponent Joy Cartner.  Congratulations to both players.

Next week members play a single stableford before the Club Championships begin the following week.

Men

The May Monthly Medals drew competitive fields in both A & B Divisions.  Phil Luckett with 69 nett won the A Division medal for the second time this year, from Kev Savage on 70 nett, on a countback from Ben Van Der Valk.  Third on a countback was Ken Albion.  Rundowns went to Len Stallard and Ian McKay, both with 72 nett.

In the Club's Fourball pairs championship final, Ben Van Der Valk and Nigel Radin came from behind to win 1 up on the 18th hole, from Harry Zawacki and Darryl Johnstone.

A Woodgate Beach Hotel voucher was presented to Peter Hrelja who was the winner of the A Division single match play final, from Nigel Radin.  Harry Zawacki and Phil Pearce are yet to play the B Division final.

Next week is a club sponsored single stableford competition with club championships to follow in the coming weeks.

Vets

The Canadian Foursomes sponsored by Phil & Pat Pearce proved quite popular with Vets and non Vets enjoying the change.

In the Men's division, Ted Buckland and Ray Walker combined well to win with 64 & 1/2 nett from Ian McKay and Norm Plath on 70 & 3/4.  Ken Backhaus and Peter Hutton were third on 71, with Niel Rieck & Dean Page fourth on 71 & 1/4.Roger And Greg Draper won the NAGA, but the score was withheld by special request.

Joy Cartner & Cecily Fay won the ladies division with 72 nett, Lisa Cooney & Chris Simpson second on 76 and Joan Kelly & Cynthia Draper came in third with 78 & 1/4.

Rae McCliskie & Vicki Wyeth won the ladies NAGA, with the score also withheld by special request.
