Golf Notes 08 April 2014

The Thursday and Saturday Monthly Goblets were contested during the week. Joan Wright with 73 nett won on Thursday with Cecily Fay runner up on 76.

Women

The Thursday and Saturday Monthly Goblets were contested during the week.  Joan Wright with 73 nett won on Thursday with Cecily Fay runner up on 76.

On Saturday, Sophie Martell with 70 nett was one shot ahead of runner up Joy Cartner.  Rundowns went to Cynthia Draper and Joan Kelly.  Robyn Robinson won the approach on 4 & 13.

This Thursday we play a Bisque Bogey competition, while on Saturday we play a Club sponsored single stableford, instead of the postponed Childers Pharmacy competiton.

Men

As usual the Monthly Medal for April was hotly contested, with a strong field of players.  In A Division Larry Pershouse with 69 nett won on a countback from Phil Luckett, runner up on a countback from Blake Dowling who led the rundowns.   Others to feature in the rundowns were Paul McCarragher, Dave Robinson, Damien Dowling, Neale Mittelheuser and Michael Hickey.

Bill Kingston easily won the B Division scoring 66 nett, with Ken Albion runner up on 69 nett, on a countback from Roger Draper, leading the rundowns from Travis Mittelheuser, Ivan Philpott and Len Stallard.

Neale Mittelheuser won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10 and Blake Dowling on 4 & 13.  Travis Mittelheuser won the B Approach on 1 & 10 and also the pinshot on 4 & 13.

Next week the competition sponsored by Childers Pharmacy has been postponed so the Club is sponsoring a single stableford. See you there!

Vets

Over 100 players from across the Wide Bay enoyed the course, now looking and playing so well. All three divisions were well attended for the annual stableford competition.

Michael Stanton recorded 39 points to win the A Division from W Bennett and Nigel Radin.  G Glowowski from 1770 recorded 40 points, the best score of the day to win the B Division from E Lingard and Ted Buckland.  Two Gayndah players led the women's division.  J Bourke with 37 points and G Bennett on 35 from Joy Cartner.

Approach shot winners were: Greg Cahill, Michael Stanton, Kev Savage, Roger and Cynthia Draper, with Julie Wilson from Bundaberg winning on two holes - 4 & 6.  Dave Robinson won the A Division longest drive, Norm Baker from Gin Gin in the B Division and Val McCormick from Hervey Bay took out the Women's Division.

The course received high praise from many visitors who were also appreciative of the hospitality offered by the ladies who provided lunch and an after game spread of goodies.  Thank you again to those willing helpers.
