Golf Notes 08 July 2014

Vicki McAulay won the July Monthly Goblet for Thursday players with a nett score of 72, ahead of runner up Coralie Volgyesi, with a rundown to Cecily Fay.

Vicki McAulay won the July Monthly Goblet for Thursday players with a nett score of 72, ahead of runner up Coralie Volgyesi, with a rundown to Cecily Fay. The competition for this week will be determined by the players when they arrive for play.

Robyn Robinson made the Monthly Medal and Goblet a family affair joining husband Dave in winning the Saturday July Goblet with a nett 69, from Joan Wright who was runner up on a countback from Vicki McAulay who claimed the rundown.  Joy Cartner won the ladies' approach on 4 & 13.

As stated in the men's notes the programmed Match Play contest between a President and Captain's team has been postponed to a date yet to be decided, so members will join the men in a Club sponsored single stableford competition this week.  See you there!

Men

Three visitors joined members for a July Monthly Medal stroke competition in ideal golfing conditions.  Dave Robinson scored 68 to win the A Divison from Kev Savage on 70, with rundowns to Will Martell and Blake Dowling.

Mark McAulay continued his fine form scoring 68 nett to win B Division from Travis Mittelheuser on 69. Rundowns went to visitor M Orrell and Adrian Martin.

Blake won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10 and Travis the B Division approach on the same hole.  Kieth Rule was nearest the pin on 4 & 13 in A Division and M Orrell in B Division.

The Captain versus President Matchplay contest has been postponed from next Saturday to a date yet to be decided. This Saturday members are invited to play a club sponsored single stableford competition instead, with the usual 12:30pm hit off. 

Vets

The aggregate stableford competition with secret partners played in near perfect conditions was won in a landslide by Col Dennett and Vicki Wyeth together amassing 77 points, to win from Adrian Martin and Mark McAulay on 71. Third place went to Bob Cochrane and Niel Rieck on 68 points.

Best nine holes went to Peter Hutton and Joan Kelly on 37 points.  Adrian also was nearest the pin with his approach and Joan was nearest the pin for the ladies.

Chook Run winners were: Bob Cochrane, Peter Hutton, Ray Walker, Vicki Wyeth and Vicki McAulay all on 32 nett, with Paul McCarragher collecting the last chicken on 33 nett.
