This Thursday, December 11, the ladies will enjoy their Christmas lunch at Vintners Secret Winery, to begin at 11:30am.

The Saturday competition to follow the AGM was washed out as detailed in the Men's notes.  The competition for this Saturday, our final formal golfing day for the year, could be a Tiger Stableford, if the President so chooses.  Check the Men's notes.

The Tiger Stableford competition planned to follow the AGM was unfortunately washed out and might be played this coming Saturay, our final day of formal competition for the year, depending on the President's choice.

The AGM held on Saturday elected a Management Committee with insufficient numbers.  It is hoped by the first meeting scheduled for Saturday December 20, the Committee will be complete.  That meeting begins at 11:00am before the usual holiday BBB competition hitting off at 12:30pm.

At the AGM the returning President Ken Albion spoke of the successful year just past and praised the team of Committee members and the cooperation of so many Club members in fulfilling the number one priority for the year - improved fairways and greens.

Other positive achievements included the purchase of a new (State Grant assisted) reconditioned greens mower, taking delivery of a new tractor and front end loader, termite removal from the Clubhouse, repairs to sections damaged by termites, and the generous donations by the Vets Association to purchase new equipment and repairs to others.  The major goals for 2015 are the purchase of a fairways mower and a new and improved entrance and driveway and a continuing improvement to the course.

The President said it was especially difficult to replace long term Secretary Cecily Fay, such an energetic and extremely competent person, but was delighted when Joan Wright was unanimously chosen as a Life Member after being nominated by the Committee and praised by former President Rodney Wagner, former Captain Peter Russo and the President for her years of exemplary service as Junior Coordinator, followed by years as Ladies Captain.

The Club looks forward to a successful 2015.

Vets

On Tuesday members set out to play the final of the Monthly VIP stroke competition but sadly the welcome rain cut the round short and the final will be played next Tuesday.

A single stroke over nine holes replaced the VIP stroke event with many scores near or below par.

In A Division Nigel Radin scored 36 nett to win from Dave Robinson on 36.5, runner up on a countback from Kieth Rule.  In B Division Roger Draper on 33.5 nett was one shot ahead of runner up Bob Champney on 34.5, with Peter Hutton 2nd runner up on 35.

Niel Rieck put his 2nd shot in the hole to win the men's approach, while Joan Wright was nearest the pin to win the women's approach.

Paul McCarragher didn't figure in the men's winners list but recorded 30 nett to win the Chook Run. Other winners were Roger Draper, Robyn Robinson and Bob Champney all on 33, and Peter Hutton on 34 (from a spin).

Next week we again attempt to play the final of the VIP Stroke Competition.  Hit off at 12 noon.
