Golf Notes 09 June 2015

On Thursday Kerry Schnack with 42 points finished two points clear of Diane Rowley, with rundowns going to Cynthia Draper and Val Plath. Joy Cartner recorded the best nine holes.

Men's and Women's Club Championships

The final 2 rounds of the Championships were played in cooler and windier conditions making play a little more difficult.  Clinton saved his best for last, coming from behind to win the A Grade Men's Championship ahead of Mitch Anderson.  Nett winner was Ray Walker with Kev Savage runner up.

Craig Reynolds maintained his lead in B Grade to win from Phil Luckett, while Norm Plath claimed the nett prize from Larry Pershouse.

In C Grade Roger Draper steadily increased his lead to win C Grade comfortably from Jeff Freeman.  Christian Fredriksen won the nett C Grade just clear of his brother Curtis.  A great effort by the twins.  Peter Hutton won the men's 72 hole nett from Michael Stanton.

In the A Grade Women's Championship event Helen Ricciardi held her lead to the end, ahead of runner up Sophie Martell.  A fine effort by a junior player.  Vicki McAulay also maintained her lead over runner up Joy Cartner to win the Women's B Grade event.  Margaret Dennett won the Women's A Grade nett from runner up Cynthia Draper.  In B Grade Monica Madsen won the nett trophy from Val Plath.  Coralie Volgyesi won the overall 72 nett from Fiona Dowling. Helen also claimed the least number of putts on a countback from Sophie Martell.

Congratulations to all the tophy winners and to all the others, there is always next year.  Thanks to all members who brought along such tasty treats.

Women

This Thursday we play for the June Monthly Goblet deferred from last week.  Hit off at the usual time.

In the Saturday Monthly Goblet competition Sophie Martell won with 67 nett from Margaret Dennet on 71.  Rundowns went to Helen Ricciardi on 72, Joy Cartner on 73, Cynthia Draper on 74 and Fiona Dowling on 75.

In the single stroke event on Sunday Helen Ricciarid won with 69 nett on a countback from Sophie Martell, with rundowns to Monica Madsen on 69, Joy Cartner on 70 and Margaret Dennett on 74.  Helen also won the approach.

This Saturday members play a single stableford for a club trophy.

Men

On Saturday Michael Stanton won the A Division with 71 nett from Norm Plath on a countback.  Mark McAulay won B Division with 69 nett, also on a countback from Larry Pershouse.  Rundowns went to Phil Luckett, Mitch Anderson and Curtis Fredriksen.

Phil Luckett won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10 and Larry Pershouse the B Division approach.  On 4 & 13, Clinton Dowling won the A Division pinshot, with no B Division player landing his drive on the green.

On Sunday Christian Fredriksen scored 67 nett to win the competition from Clinton Dowling on 69 nett, with rundowns going to Peter Steel on 70, Peter Hrelja on 71, Phil Luckett, Norm Plath and Roger Draper all on 72.

Peter Steel won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10, while Christian Fredriksen won the B Division approach. No player landed his drive on 4 & 13.

This Saturday the Club sponsors a single stableford after four rounds of stroke over the past 2 weekends.

Vets

In the challenging stroke versus par competition most players struggled to reach a positive result.  Nigel Radin managed to finish square and win A Division, with Kev Denham runner up on minus 1.  Norm Plath won best nine holes.

Vicki Wyeth had the best score of the day with plus 3, with Joan Kelly runner up on plus 1.   Mark McAulay had the best nine hole score with plus 2.

Leigh Hart won the men's approach on 1 & 10, Robyn Robinson the women's approach on 6 & 15 and Nigel Radin on 4 & 13.

Chook Run winners were led by Mick Ryan with 29 nett, Mark McAulay with 31, Vicki Wyeth on 32, Monica Madsen on 33 and Margaret Dennett and Ian McKay both on 34.
