Golf Notes 11 February 2017

Joy Cartner with 33 points won the Thursday single stableford competition on a countback from Diane Rowley. Di also claimed the ladies approach. Sandra Kirk claimed a rundown. This Thursday we play a single stroke competition.

Women

Joy Cartner with 33 points won the Thursday single stableford competition on a countback from Diane Rowley.  Di also claimed the ladies approach.  Sandra Kirk claimed a rundown.  This Thursday we play a single stroke competition.

On Saturday a small field struggled in the conditions with Cynthia Draper on 33 winning the single stableford competition.  Coralie on 32 points was second, with Val Plath winning the ladies approach on 6 & 15.

This Saturday nominated players will compete in the Woodgate Beach Hotel sponsored single match play in conjunction with a single stableford competition, open to all members.

Men

The combined match play pairs qualifying round and single stableford competition saw fewer numbers than expected play in the torrid conditions.  Darryl Johnstone with 42 points won the single stableford from John Cole on 39, Phil Luckett on 38 and Ken Albion on 36.

Nigel Radin won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10, Ken Albion the B Division approach on the same hole, while Ivan Philpott won the combined approach on 4 & 13.

Darryl's score wasn't enough for his team to lead the fourball competition which was won by John Cole and Rodney Wagner on 46 points from Phil Luckett and Ken Albion on 45 points.  The draw for Round 1 of the 4BBB to be completed on, or before Saturday March 25 is as follows:

Next week nominated players in A & B Divisions compete in Round 1 of the Woodgate Beach Hotel sponsored single Match Play competition as well as a concurrent single stableford, in which all are welcome to play.

Vets

Last Tuesday the Vets enjoyed the favoured single stableford in two divisions.

In Division 1 Mick Hicke putting like a champion, recorded 43 points to win comfortably from Laurie Dakin on 39, second on a countback from Craig Reynolds.

Harry Zawacki with 37 points won Division 2 from Coralie Volgyesi on 35 and Vicki Wyeth on 34.

Mick won the men's approach on 1 & 10, Ray Walker the combined approach on 4 & 13, and Vicki McAulay the ladies approach on 6 & 15.
