Women

Joy Cartner continues her consistent form winning the March Thursday Monthly Goblet with nett 73 from Joan Wright on 75.  This week we are playing match play with an 8:30am hit off.

Like the men on Saturday, many women members had their best scores for some time, with Fiona Dowling leading the way on 39 stableford points from Helen Ricciardi on 38 points.  Val Plath claimed a rundown with Cynthia Draper claiming the approach on 1 & 10.

On Sunday, six members played in the Burrum District Ladies' Carnival, with the only success going to Rae McCliskie winning the B Grade gross competition.  Congratulations Rae on all our behalfs.

Next Saturday, we again play a single stableford sponsored by the Club.

Men

With the course playing well (and preferrred lie allowed), scores in the single stableford competition were again impressive, many well below par.  In A Division Brett Martell's 40 points was good enough to win on a countback from Phil Luckett, while Larry Pershouse scored 41 points to take out the B Division competition by 1 point from Bob Champney.

Rundowns in A Division went to Des Wicks, Graeme Anderson and Clinton Dowling.  Ross Nicol, Len Stallard and new member Trevor Page claimed rundowns in B Division. A Division pinshots went to Dave Robinson on 1 & 10, and Damien Dowling on 4 & 13. B Division approach on 1 & 10 was claimed by Bob Champney and on 4 & 13 by Terry Smallman.

The first round of pairs match play is due to be completed by this Sunday, so Saturday offers the last opportunity for remaining matches to be played.  Mitchell Anderson & Damien Dowling vs Michael Hickey & Bill Kingston; Rodney Wagner & Geoff Jarrett vs Bob Werne & Len Stallard; Ross Nicol & Terry Smallman vs Will Martell & Neale Mittelheuser.

For other members the competition will be a club sponsored single stableford by popular demand.

Vets

The course made scoring very difficult, with only one member bettering par and one equalling par in the single stableford competition.  Ray Burrows was the overall winner on 37 points, with Barry Steinke winning A Division on 35 points on a countback from Kev Savage while Paul McCarragher won the best nine holes with 20 points.

In B Division Ross Nicol scored 36 points to win from Joy Cartner on 35 points, with one rundown to Frank Rockett on 34.  Vicki Wyeth won the best nine holes with 22 points! Joy also won the women's approach, while NIgel Radin repeated last week's effort winning the men's approach.

Vicki led the way in the Chook Run with 30 nett, from Bob Champney on 31, Ray Burrows, Kev Savage and Jack Smith on 34, and Barry Steinke on 35 in a spin for the second week in a row.

Next Tuesday is the March VIP stroke competition sponsored by Ray Walker and Bill Herring.  See you there for a 12 noon hit off!
