Golf Notes 11 November 2014

Joan Wright claimed the Thursday November Monthly Goblet with a nett score of 74 on a countback from Vicki Wyeth. Rose Cochrane with 75 and Val Plath with 78 both claimed rundowns.

Women

Joan Wright claimed the Thursday November Monthly Goblet with a nett score of 74 on a countback from Vicki Wyeth. Rose Cochrane with 75 and Val Plath with 78 both claimed rundowns. Joy Cartner won the approach with Rose Cochrane scoring the least number of putts on a countback.  This Thursday we play the much favoured single stableford competition.

On Saturday Robyn Robinson recorded 36 points to win on a countback from Joan Kelly.  Rundowns went to Cynthia Draper & Fiona Dowling both on 34 points.  Helen Ricciardi claimed the approach on 4 & 13.

This Saturday we again play in a club sponsored single stableford.  See you there for the 12:30 hit off.

On Thursday week, each member is requested to invite a non member to play in a special nine hole 3 person Ambrose competition as part of the National Play Golf week.  A lunch time tasty snack is part of the free morning's play. All visitors welcome!

Men

The club sponsored single stableford competition attrached another strong field with some excellent scores carded, especially in B Division.

In A Division Craig Reynolds recorded 36 points to win on a countback from Kev Savage who was runner up on a countback from Ray Walker (who scored an eagle as compensation).  Other rundowns went to Dave Robinson and Michael Stanton both with 35 points.

Terry Smallman recorded an impressive 41 points in B Division winning on a countback from unlucky Len Stallard.  Next came John HInton on 40 points with other rundowns to Adrian Martin on 39 and Mark McAulay on 36 points.

John took out the B Division approach on 1 & 10 and the pinshot on 4 & 13, while Mick Hickey claimed the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10 and Niel Rieck on 4 & 13.

Next week is another club sponsored single stableford as we near the end of the golfing year.  See you there for the 12:30pm hit off.

Note: As part of the National Play Golf Week the club is holding a 'Come and Try Day' on Sunday November 23, and inviting non members to join us for a free 3 person Ambrose over 12 holes, hitting off at 12:30.  Members are requested to form teams by asking friends and family to compete with them in an enjoyable afternoon competition following by an after game snack.

Vets

The stroke versus par competition, which was the 2nd round of the Frank Cooper Cup play) surprised members with the high level of scores.

Phil Luckett led the way with plus 6 to be the overall winner of the day.  Kev Savage won the A Division from Col Dennett on a countback, with Kieth Rule winning the best nine holes scoring plus 3.

In B Division Peter Hutton recorded plus 5 to win on a countback from Adrian Martin, with Vicki McAulay the nine hole winner on plus 6!!

The approaches were won by Dave Robinson for the men (In the hole) and Vicki Wyeth for the women.

Chook Run scores were among the lowest ever with Vicki McAulay leading the way on 27 nett, followed by Bob Werne on 30, Adrian Martin, Phil Luckett & Peter Hutton all on 33 all winning on spins from a group of 5.
