Golf Notes 11 October 2016

On Thursday Kerry Schnack scored 70 nett to win the October Monthly Medal from Sandy Kirk on 72. Margaret Dennett won the rundown on 73 nett.

Women

On Thursday Kerry Schnack scored 70 nett to win the October Monthly Medal from Sandra Kirk on 72. Margaret Dennett won the rundown with 73 nett.  Margaret (0.11m) also won the approach.

This Thursday a number of ladies are travelling to Burrum for a game as the course will be closed to enable the greens to be renovated.

On Saturday Val Plath with 38 points won the single stableford competition sponsored by the club. Vicki McAulay was second with 36 points and also won the approach on 6&15, being 0.12m from the hole with her second shot.

Men

Members enjoyed a single stableford competition sponsored by the club.

Dean Page recorded 38 points to win from four players on 36. Coming second on countback was Mick Hickey, with Michael Stanton third on countback from Nigel Radin. Leading the rundowns was Ray Walker also on 36, followed by Kieth Rule, Wesley Hinton (35’s), Laurie Dakin on 34 and Ken Albion squeezing in on 33.

No A Division player reached the green on 1&10, with Ben Van Der Valk (2.4m) winning the B Division approach. Ross Nicol (1.46m) won the A Division pinshot on 4&13, while Peter Hutton (0.62m) won the B Division pinshot, plus claiming a silver circle.

Next week, as announced, the Vets’ are sponsoring the day which will be marked as a special events day for the Golf Australia October Month of Golf around Australia. Any participant will have their name forwarded for a place in a draw for one of the many prizes on offer. The competition for the day will be announced by the sponsors.

Vets

The members played a single stableford in two divisions on a hot Tuesday afternoon. In A Division Norm Plath won with 36 points on a countback from Craig Reynolds, with Kev Savage third on 35 points.

In B Division Michael Stanton recorded 39 points to win from Barry Steinke on 37, with John Henderson third on 34 points.
Val Plath (3.16m) won the Ladies’ approach on 6&15; Niel Rieck the A Combined on 4&13; and Bob Champney (hole in one) claimed the Men’s approach on 1&10. Bob collected a dozen balls for his effort and also collected a further ball on 4&13 for his pinshot.

Bill Herring again led the Chook Run winners with nett 28, from Phil Luckett and Kieth Rule on 30s, Larry Pershouse on 31, winning the last bird on a spin from a number of others.

Next week is V.I.P. monthly stroke sponsored by the Volgyesis and McAulays, including the final round of competition for the Jan Mungomery salver. It is also a ‘special events’ day for Golf Australia’s month of golf in October – every participant has a chance to enter a draw for a range of prizes.
