Golf Notes 12 May 2015

Last Thursday members played for the May Monthly Goblet, with Kerry Schnack following up on her win of last week with a nett 69 to claim the goblet from runner up Margaret Dennett on 72.

Women

Last Thursday members played for the May Monthly Goblet, with Kerry Schnack following up on her win of last week with a nett 69 to claim the goblet from runner up Margaret Dennett on 72. Rundowns went to Jennifer McKay, Diane Rowley and Rose Cochrane.  Coralie Volgyesi was nearest the pin.

This Thursday we play a two person Ambrose, numbers permitting.

On Saturday Cynthia Draper won the single stableford competition with 37 points from Fiona Dowling on 35, runner up on a countback from Monica Madsen who claimed the best nine holes on 20 points.

Rundowns went to Joan Kelly, Val Plath & Helen Ricciardi with Joan nearest the pin on 6 & 15.

This Saturday we play in the Childers Pharmacy sponsored single stableford competition.

Men

A number of keen golfers arrived to contest the club sponsored single stableford competition on a brisk autumn afternoon.

In A Division Nigel Radin with 35 points won on a countback from Blake Dowling, runner up on a countback from Ray Walker who won a rundown.

Bob Werne enjoyed his round recording 40 points, the best score of the day, winning B Division from Len Stallard, runner up on 37 points.  Bill Kingston with 36 points won a rundown.

Nigel also won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10, with Roger Draper winning the B Division approach.  Blake Dowling won the pinshot on 4 & 13 with B Division a skinner.

Vets

The Montly VIP Stroke Competition sponsored by the Drapers and the Plaths attracted a large number of keen players in the pleasant warm afternoon.

In A Division Kev Dennham recorded nett 66 to edge out Phil Luckett on 68 followed by Nigel Radin on 70, Bill Cowan with 71 and Kev Savage on 72.

Visitor Max Burton enjoyed his round recording 68, with Ken Albion next on 72, Len Stallard on 73, Mark McAulay and Adrian Martin both on 74 rounding out the winners.

Joan Kelly scored a nett 69 to win the women's division from Joy Cartner on 72, runner up on a countback from Rose Cochrane. Rundowns went to Monica Madsen and Diane Rowley both on 73.

The approaches were won by Nigel Radin for the men on 1 & 10, Vicki McAulay for the women on 6 & 15, and Kev Savage took out the combined approach on 4 & 13.

Rusty Usmar led the Chook Run winners with 29 nett, followed closely by Bob & Rose Cochrane both on 31, Cynthia Draper, Joan Kelly, Monica Madsen and Jennifer McKay all on 31 nett.

Members showed their appreciation for the generous sponsorship by the two popular families.

Next Tuesday we play a fourball best ball stableford with a Captain's draw favoured by members.
