Golf Notes 13 December 2016

The Isis Golf Club would like to express our sincere thanks to the Isis Town & Country for their years of support to our Club. It has been a pleasure working with them, and is a sad occasion for the Isis Community to see them disappear from our lives.

Men and Women

The cloudy sky and weather forecast deterred many on the final day of the official golfing season. A few hardy members enjoyed the single stableford competition in the pleasant conditions.

Ben Van Der Valk returned a score of 38 points to win the Men’s Division from Ken Albion on 35 points, second on a countback from Roger Draper, who led the rundowns, followed by Phil Pearce, Ross Nicol and Ray Walker, all on 34 points.,

Bill Herring (6.5m) won the A Division pinshot on 1&10, while Norm Plath (3.72m) won the B Division approach. Ross Nicol (8.9m) won the A Division pinshot on 4&13.

Cynthia Draper with 31 points won the competition in the Ladies’ Division, with Coralie Volgyesi (1.36m) winning the approach on 6&15.

As last Saturday was the final official golfing day of the season, the club will now conduct BBB stableford competitions on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Public Holidays until the 2017 season is officially opened towards the end of January.

Vets

A two-person Ambrose was the final competition of our official golfing year, with many and varied pairings, some very successful.

Peter Hrelja and Kev Denham recorded nett 62.5 to win from Kev Savage and Lisa Cooney on 64.5, with Peter Hutton and Roger Draper third on 65 nett.

The open approach on 4&13 went to Cynthia Draper and Craig Reynolds with their second shot in the hole. Nigel Radin and Bob Werne won the approach on 1&10, their second shot 0.08m from the hole.

Chook Run pair winners were: Val Plath and Vicki Wyeth (22 nett), Nigel Radin and Bob Werne (23) and Vicki McAulay and Mark McAulay (24).

So ends the golfing season for 2016. We wish all members the best for a safe and happy festive season and for a prosperous New Year.
