Golf Notes 16 June 2015

Kerry Shnack scored 70 nett to win the postponed Monthly Goblet on Thursday with Joan Wright runner up on 74, 2nd on a countback from Vicki McAulay, won won a rundown.

Women

Kerry Shnack scored 70 nett to win the postponed Monthly Goblet on Thursday with Joan Wright runner up on 74, 2nd on a countback from Vicki McAulay, won won a rundown.  Kerry was also nearest the pin with her approach. 

This Thursday we play a single stableford, at the winter hit off time.

On Saturday a small number competed in the single stableford with Vicki McAulay recording 33 points to win, with Joan Wright winning the approach on 6 & 15.

This Saturday members play in a 2 person Ambrose choose sponsored by the Childers Social and Isis Golf Clubs.  See you there for the 12:30pm hit off.  On Saturday 27 June we hold our Foursomes Championships.  Please nominate if you haven't done so already.

Men

The single stableford competition suited Ivan Philpott to a tee, recording 42 points for the afternoon round.  Runner up was Clinton Dowling with 38 points on a countback from Larry Pershouse who led the rundowns, followed by Bill Cowan on 35, Ted Buckland, John Hinton and Dave Robinson all on 34.

Clinton claimed the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10 and Mark McAulay the B Division approach. Kev Savage won the A Division pinshot on 4 & 13, with no B Division player making the green with his drive.

This Saturday is the combined Childers Social/Isis Golf Club's day when we compete in a two person Ambrose choose.  See you there for the 12:30 pm hit off.  The following Saturday we hold the Foursomes Championships.  Please nominate your pair soon.

Vets

On Tuesday members played in the Woodgate sponsored VIP Monthly Stroke competition.  The unsettled weather changed for the better when the sun appeared and the rain disappeared, followed by a balmy afternoon.  The scores changed for the better as well.

In A Division Larry Pershouse (recently promoted) recorded 68 nett to win from Barry Steinke on 71 and Kieth Rule on 73.  In B Division Ted Buckland and visitor Max Barton recorded 65 nett each with Ted winning on a countback.  Third was Ken Albion on 71. 

Margaret Dennett recorded 73 nett to win the Women's Division on a countback from Joy Cartner, second on a countback from Cynthia Draper.

Approach winners were Paul McCarragher on 4 & 13, Margaret Dennet on 6 & 15, and Jack Smith on 1 & 10.

Max Burton led the Chook Run winners with nett 32 from Cynthia Draper, Jack Smith and Ted Buckland all on 33, and Ken Albion on 34.
