Golf Notes 17 February 2015

Diane Rowley won our first Thursday Monthly Goblet with a nett score of 63 from Joan Wright on 72, with a rundown to Margaret Dennett. Joan also claimed the approach, her second shot just 21cm from the hole.

Women

The competition for this Thursday will be decided on the day, with hit off time 8:00am for the remainder of February.

On Saturday members played a single stableford, with Val Plath winning a handsome gift for her excellent score of 41 points.  Cynthia Draper was runner up on 39 points, while Monica Madsen won a rundown for her 36 points.  Sophie Martell was nearest the pin on 4 & 13 and Helen Ricciardi on 6 & 15.

This Saturday members will again play a single stableford with hit off at 12:30pm.

Men

On Saturday members played a fourball stroke competition for the qualifying round of the pairs' Matchplay Championship, on another pleasant afternoon.

The pairing of Clinton Dowling and Ivan Philpott did not surprise when they came in with a nett score of 61 to claim the winners' prize and first place in the qualifying round.  They won on a countback from Mick Martens and Cec Martin, visitors from Bundaberg.  Nigel Radin and Bob Werne on 62 and Kieth Rule and Larry Pershouse on 63 won rundowns.

Will Martell won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10 and Peter Hutton the B Division approach.  Clinton Dowling won the A Division pinshot on 4 & 13, a mere 1.3 metres from the hole.  No B Division player managed to reach the green.

Next Saturday members play a single stableford competition for club trophies.  A voucher system is to be reintroduced in the near future for prizes, with a view to supporting those businesses who sponsor days during the year.

Vets

The VIP single stroke competition sponsored by Rusty Usmar again attracted a large number of players for each division.

In A Division Kieth Rule won with 68 nett on a countback from Phil Luckett, with Col Dennett on 70.  In B Division Len Stallard scored 67 nett to win by one shot from Roger Draper, with Charlie Livick third on 72.

Cynthina Draper won the Women's Division with 70 nett from Rose Cochrane on 73, second on a countback from Marg Dennett.

Ray Walker scored a hole in one on the 4th to claim the mixed approach.  Kieth Rule won the men's approach on 1 & 10 and Rose the women's approach on 6 & 15.

Chook Run winners were: Peter Hutton and Len Stallard on 30 nett, Ray Walker 31, Col Dennett 32, Kieth Rule, Vicki Wyeth and Roger Draper all on 33.
