On Saturday another strong field contested the single stableford competition for a club trophy.  Damien Dowling and father Clinton played quality golf with Damien ending his round three under par, having 5 under on the back nine.  The result of his great golf being 40 points, to win A Division just one clear of Clinton on 39.  Michael Stanton won the best nine holes with 19 points and rundowns went to Mitch Anderson (38), Neale Mittelheuser and Graeme Anderson (37).

In B Division it was another father and son battle, with Will Martell on 39 points edging out his father Brett on 38.  Ivan Philpott took out the best nine holes.  Rundowns went to Bob Champney (33) and Adrian Martin (32).

The A Division pinshots were won by Ray Walker on 1 & 10 and Mitch Anderson on 4 & 13, while Bob Champney won the B Division approach on 1 & 10.

Vets

This week members contested the single stroke VIP competition, sponsored by Mark and Vicki McAulay.  In spite of threatening showers players were able to complete the round in very muggy conditions.

Competition was keen, if not spectacular. Craig Reynolds scored the only nett par, his 70 winning him the A Division from Ray Walker with 72, on a countback from Neil Rieck. Michael Stanton won the other rundown.

Kev Denham with 71 won the B Division from Roger Draper on 72, with rundowns to Bob Cochrane (75) and visitor Kev Domjahn on 76.

Cynthia Draper scored 78 to win the Women’s Division from Joy Cartner on 79, runner-up in a count back from Vicki Wyeth.

Dave Robinson won both the men’s pinshot on 4 & 13 and the approach on 15, while Cynthia Draper won both women’s approaches on 4 & 13 and 6 & 15.

Chook Run winners were led by Jack Smith, Norm Plath and Mark McAulay (34 nett), followed by Neil Rieck and Vicki McAulay (35), with Paul McCarragher, Ed Connell and Vicki Wyeth (36) winning their chickens on a spin.

Members were very appreciative of the prizes and after game snacks offered by the day’s sponsors, Mark and Vicki McAulay and look forward to the next VIP in March, but next Tuesday we play the old staple, a single stableford, hit-off at 12 noon.
