Golf Notes 18 November 2014

Vicki McAulay scored 37 points to win the Thursday single stableford from Rose Cochrane only 1 point behind. Val Plath won the one rundown on 35 points.

Women

Vicki McAulay scored 37 points to win the Thursday single stableford from Rose Cochrane only 1 point behind.  Val Plath won the one rundown on 35 points.

This Thursday of course each member is requested to invite a non-member to play in a special nine hole 2 person Ambrose competition as part of the National Play Golf Week.  A lunch time tasty snack is part of the free morning's play.  All visitors welcome.  Hit off time is 8:30am.

On Saturday Sophie Martell returned to the winner's circle to take out the single stableford competition with 39 points from Rae McCliskie on 36, with a rundown to Val Plath who also claimed the ladies' approach.

This Saturday we again play a club sponsored single stableford competition.  See you there for the 12:30 hit off.

Men

Members played a single stableford on Saturday afternoon on one of the hottest days this year.  With players grouped in one Division, Peter Hutton stole the day with 38 points from Len Stallard on 36 points.  Rundowns went to Kev Savage, C Scott, Phil Luckett, Damien Dowling and Craig Reynolds. 

Damien claimed the pinshot on 1 & 10, Clinton Dowling on 4 & 13, while the B Division approach was won by the youngest Scott and the B Division pinshot by Adrian Martin.

In the final of the Men's pairs matchplay championship Rodney Wagner and Geoff Jarrett overcame the Kieth Rule and Larry Pershouse combination to win with two holes to play.  In the single Seb's Matchplay competition Larry Pershouse meets Peter Steel in the final to be played soon.

This Saturday, as a warm up for the Medal of Medallists play off the following Saturday we offer a single stroke competition with hit off at the usual 12:30pm.

As mentioned in last week's Town & Country report, as part of national Play Golf Week, the Club is hoding a 'come and try day' this Sunday, November 23 and inviting non members to join us for a free 3 person Ambrose over 12 holes hitting off at 12:30pm.  Members are requested to form teams by asking friends and family to compete with them in an enjoyable afternoon's competition followed by a after game snack.

Vets

The Monthly VIP single stroke day was sponsored this month by Rockett Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.  Thank you again to Brendan for his generous prizes.

Barry Steinke recorded the score of the day with his score of 65 nett putting Michael Stanton into 2nd place with 69 nett on a countback from 3rd placegetter Dave Robinson.

Larry Pershouse scored 68 nett to claim B Division with Terry Smallman runner up on 71 from Ray Burrowes on 72.

The ladies winner was Val Plath on 71 nett from Joy Cartner on 73, on a countback from Monica Madsen.

The approaches were won by Ray Walker for the men (in the hole again this week) and Monica won the women's approach.

Barry Steinke easily led the Chook Run scoring 28 nett, followed by Kieth Rule on 30, Monica Madsen, Dave Robinson both on 31 and Paul McCarragher on 32.

Next Tuesday we play a fourball best ball aggregate with a mystery draw for partners, to become known after the round.
