Women

A dozen members journeyed to Coral Cove to enjoy a stableford competition in ideal conditions.  It was encouraging to welcome members who do not often play on Thursday.  Helen Ricciardi won the competition 2 points ahead of Cecily Fay and Robyn Robinson who shared the runner up position.  This Thursday we again play a single stableford with the following Thursday being the Monthly Medal Final.

On Saturday we joined the men in a fourball best ball stableford sponsored by the Vets.  A very pleasant afternoon was well attended, and the results are in the men's section of the notes.

This Saturday is Sponsors Day and we hope a large number of members (if they are not sponsors) will enter the two person Ambrose run in conjunction with the sponsors competition.

Men

The Isis Vets Club were the sponsors for a 4BBB stableford event last Saturday.  Very pleasing to welcome both Leigh and Kieran Cronin back for a round of golf along with the high number of golfers that made up the 52 players.

The winners were the last minute pairing of Helen Ricciardi and Peter Russo who carded a pretty impressive 47 points.  Helen led the way with some fine stroke play while Peter chimed in on a few holes to help bolster the score.

Runners up were Mark and Vicki McAulay on 46 points. Rundowns went to M Tedge and J Wright, M Ryan and S White, T Buckland and B Herring, L Pershouse and K Rule, C & R Draper and D Robinson and D Wicks.

Pin shots went to Dave Robinson, Kev Savage and Larry Pershouse.

This Saturday is a day the club hosts all the kind sponsors who have put on a day throughout the year.  This will be a two person ambrose, so grab a mate and come along for a bit of fun.  Hit off at 12:30pm with names in by 12:15.

Juniors

Last weekend was the November monthly medal, the last of the year.  In the nine hole event Zane Fitzgerald played very well to have a nett 32, with Christian Fredriksen being the runner up and Curtis Fredriksen taking out the least putts.

In the six hole competition Cooper Rehbein had an excellent day with a nett 20 to win from Wesley Hinton on nett 26, with the least putts to Ricky Arjona with 17 putts.

On Sunday several members travelled to Hervey Bay to compete in the last round of the Junior Wide Bay circuit.  Several players put in commendable efforts.  In the six hole girls Amara Burns won the nett event.  It was also the conclusion to the Greg Norman yearly event.  Isis players did very well with Amara taking out the nett event for the six hole girls and boys.  In the 18 hole Greg Norman event Will Martell was the winner!  This was well done to those players which means they have played well under their handicaps all year.

Next Saturday will be the final of the Monthly Medal for both six and nine holers.  This will be the last weekend of golf for the year, nine holers to start at 7:00am and six holers at 7:30am.  Should be an exciting weekend! See you there!

Vets

Like previous sponsors, Phil and Ken dug deep to sponsor the VIP Monthly Stroke competition, the last one for the year, with the play off of winners next month.

After the recent unsettled weather players encountered fine, but quite hot conditions for the day.  This didn't worry some players, especially in A division.

Col Dennett played his best game in quite some time to shoot a 67 nett and win A Division from Kev Savage on 68 and Keith Rule on 69.

Larry Pershouse won B Division with a nett 69 from Ed Connell on 72 and Rusty Usmar on 73 and Bill Herring on 74.

In the women's competition Coralie Volgyese won with 76 nett from Marg Dennett on a countback from Vicki McAulay, both on 79 nett.  Rose Cochrane won the women's approach and Kev Savage the men's.  The special prize for least putts was won by Rose Cochrane for the women and for the men by Bill Herring on a countback.

The winners of the chickens were: Rose Cochrane with a stellar front nine of 30 nett, Kev Savage (32), Adrian Martin (34), Joy Cartner, Col Dennett and Ray Walker (35).

For the last Tuesday of the month we return to play a single stableford.  Remember to register for the end of year dinner at the club.

Social

The members played off the back nine in a stroke and putt competition, with some exceptional scores being recorded.

Leading the way was Rhonda Zahn with nett 27, followed by Ray Burrows on 29.  Ed Connell was third with 31 on a countback from a number of players.

The B Grade longest drive went to Bill Kirchhof, the least number of putts to Bob Champney, the B Approach to Adam Smith, the pin shot to Dave Durie (very close but not close enough), the approaches to Andrew Heathcock and to Michael Stanton.

This Sunday we set off for the Christmas break up at Hervey Bay.  The bus will leave the clubhouse at 6:10am for those wishing to use it.  Bags will be carried by Paul and Ed.  See you there or at the course for a 7:30am hit off.
