Golf Notes 21 July 2015

Kerry Schnack again claimed the trophy on Thursday recording 62 nett to shut out an unlucky Vicki McAulay on 63 nett. Rundowns went to Margaret Dennett on 66, Val Plath on 75 and Joy Cartner on 76.

Mixed Foursomes Championships

Clinton and Fiona Dowling are again the Mixed Foursomes Champions for 2015, recording an excellent score of 119 on Sunday to win comfortably from Ray Walker and Helen Ricciardi on 127, which would usually be a possible winning score.

Nigel Radin and Kerry Schnack recorded the best nett score, a remarkable 100 3/4 to win from Bill Kingston and Monica Madsen on 108 3/4, runners up on a countback.

Michael Stanton & Margaret Dennett won the approach on 4 & 13, and Joan Kelly and Kev Denham on 1 & 10.

A very pleasant afternoon indeed with a very tasty variety of snacks to finish the day off.  A big thank you to everyone and especially those who prepared and cleaned up after. 

Women

This Thursday members decide prior to hit off at 8:30am what the competition will be.

On Saturday Helen Ricciardi recorded 34 points to win the single stableford competition from Lisa Cooney on 33 points.  Rundowns went to Monica Madsen and Vicki McAulay, both on 31 points.  Coralie Volgyesi won the ladies' approach. This Saturday we join the men in a single stableford sponsored by Bill & Jan Kingston.

Men

On Saturday members played a single stableford competition with no player equalling par for the day. Clinton Dowling Recorded 35 points to win A Division from son Blake on 34, with rundowns to Ivan Philpott and visitor Darren Leitch.

In B Division Ross Nicol with 34 points won on a countback from Mark McAulay, with rundowns to Adrian Martin and Ken Albion.

Clinton also won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10, Len Stallard the approach, with Blake winning the A Division pinshot on 5 & 13 and Mark McAulay the B Division pinshot.

Phil Luckett scored a hole in one on number 6 for the second time! One shot improved his score considerably.

Next week we play a single stableford sponsored by Bill & Jan Kingston.  As usual we look forward to this special day in our calendar.

Vets

This week we played the Monthly VIP stroke competition sponsored by Phil Luckett and Ken Albion, with support of friends and the culinary talents of Michael Stanton.

In A Division Kev Denham recorded nett 69 to win from Norm Plath on 70 with Dave Robinson third on 74.  Roger Draper won B Division with nett 70, Len Stallard was runner up on 72 and Ken Albion third on 74.  Three women recorded 71 nett, with Margaret Dennett winning on a countback from Jennifer McKay, runner up on a countback from Vicki Wyeth.

On 1 & 10 Barry Steinke won the A Division approach, Cynthia Draper the women's approach on the same hole and Cynthia also won the approach on 6 & 15, while Rose Cochrane won the combined approach on 4 & 13.  Roger Draper led the Chook Run winners with 30 nett, from Phil Pearce, Vicki Wyeth on 31, Len Stallard on 32, Vicki McAulay and Jennifer McKay both on 33.

On a cold drizzly afternoon, the warm snacks were very welcome, with thanks to June for finalising the dishes.  Much appreciated.

Next Tuesday members play a single stableford with hit off at 12 nooon.
