Golf Notes 22 April 2014

Women

Rose Cochrane claimed the winner's trophy in Thursday's Single Stableford competition with 35 points from Coralie Volgyesi.  Joan Wright won the best nine holes.  Rose also hit her drive on number 6 close enough to claim the silver circle - Congratulations Rose.

This Thursday we play another single stableford, while on ANZAC Day members play a stroke competition for the trophy donated annualy by the Ruddy family, at the same time the men play a BBB stroke competition.

On Easter Saturday in the club sponsored stableford competition Sophie Martell won the major Easter prize with 37 points from Helen Ricciardi on 33 points.  Helen also claimed the approach shot on 1 & 10.

This Saturday, the Childers Pharmacy is sponsoring a single stableford competition and we invite all members to join in the competition and support our fairly new sponsor, and the club.

Men

In beautiful autumn weather members enjoyed a club sponsored single stableford competition on Easter Saturday.  Kev Savage continued his recent fine form to record 36 points and win the A Division trophy from Dave Robinson on 34 points.

Peter Hutton enjoyed his return to top form to record 39 points and win B Division from Len Stallard on 35 points.  While the pinshots on 4 & 13 were skinners, Craig Reynolds won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10, and Peter Hutton won the B Division approach.

This Saturday we again play a single stableford sponsored by Childers Pharmacy for the second year in a row.  Still new to town, but very willing to support our club.  Be there and support them.

Remember on ANZAC Day we again offer a BBB competition, hitting off at 12:30pm. Probably stroke to match the ladies' competition.

Vets

The ever popular single stableford attracted a strong field on Easter Tuesday with some fine scoring to match the lovely autumn afternoon.

Ray Burrows was easily the overall winner with a mighty 46 points. Great win Ray!  In A Division Col Dennett's 39 points put him 2 shots ahead of runner up Phil Luckett, who beat two others on a countback. Kev Denham won the best nine holes with 21 points.

Ted Burrows was a long way in front in B Division with his 41 points well clear of Rae McCliskie on 34 points.  Best nine holes went to Mark McAulay on 20 points.

Col Dennett also collected the men's approach under half a metre from the hole. Joy Cartner claimed the women's approach 3 metres away.

Col also led the Chook Run winners with 28 nett (!), followed by Ray Burrows on 30, Rose Cochrane, Kev Denham with 32, Rae McCliskie and Craig Reynolds on 33.

We look forward to another single stableford competition next Tuesday, with the usual 12 noon hit off.
