Golf Notes 22 November 2016

On last Thursday Joan Kelly won the single stableford competition with 38 points from Marg Dennett on 36. Rundowns went to Joan Wright on 35 and Di Rowley on 33. Rose Cochrane put her second shot in the hole to win the ladies’ approach.

On last Thursday Joan Kelly won the single stableford competition with 38 points from Marg Dennett on 36.  Rundowns went to Joan Wright on 35 and Di Rowley on 33. Rose Cochrane put her second shot in the hole to win the ladies’ approach.

This Thursday the final of the Monthly Medal is being played.

On Saturday Joan Kelly again won the competition with 39 points in the single stableford competition, from Lisa Cooney on 38 – hope Joan is not peaking too soon for the final this weekend.

Helen Ricciardi (0.33m) won the ladies’ approach on 6&15.

Men

A very pleasant afternoon in the cool breeze together with fast fairways and true greens saw the best scoring for many months.

Roger Draper led the way with 41 points in the single stableford competition, with Ross Nicol next on 39 points. Garry Willoughby and Chris White both recorded 38 points with Garry claiming third on a countback. Rundowns went to Will Martell and Craig Reynolds both on 37.

Clinton Dowling (2.47m) won the A Division pinshot on 1&10; Mark McAulay (0.70m) the B Division approach there; Ross Nicol (2.0m) the A Division pinshot on 4&13; Mark McAulay (3.9m) the B Division pinshot on the same hole.

This Friday evening (6:00 for 6:30 p.m.) is our Presentation Night and all members and their families and friends are welcome to enjoy the evening. Bill Trevor is again ready to auction off the players in the Calcutta, always enjoyable entertainment.

Please provide a plate for the occasion.

This Saturday is the Medal of Medallists’ playoff, which as always will prove very competitive. See you there, whether to compete in the final or enjoy a round in a parallel competition.

Vets

Another pleasant afternoon tempered by the Easterly breeze saw the fine scores continue.  In A Division three players recorded 36 points in the single stableford competition, with Kieth Rule the winner on countback from Craig Reynolds, second on a countback from Mark McAulay.

The scores were much further apart in B division with Larry Pershouse recording 43 points, to win from Norm Plath on 41, with Len Stallard third on 39 points.

Norm Plath (0.11m) won the men’s approach on 1&10; Ray Burrowes ((0.18m) the combined on 4&13; and Vicki McAulay (0.48m) the ladies on 6&15.

Phil Luckett led the Chook Run winners with 28 nett from Larry Pershouse on 29, Norm Plath on 30 and Ray Burrowes on 31, on a spin.

Next week we play a foursomes with a draw to determine partners.
