Women

Thursday play was abandoned in the wet conditions, so next Thursday the competition will be decided by hit off time of 8:00am.  On Saturday a small group of members played a single stableford competition.

Joan Wright won the day with 32 points and Sophie Martell took out the best nine holes.  Sophie was also nearest the pin with her approach on 6 & 15.

This Saturday members will play in the Isis Tyres sponsored competition which will be a single stableford.  See you there for the 12:30pm hit off.

Men

Members were surprised when Saturday arrived with a promise of a days play rather than a washout.  In the single stableford competition the heavier fairways and slower greens seemed to favour certain players while handicapping many others.

Clinton Dowling produced a sub par round to record 40 points and win A Division from Kev Savage on 37 points, with Norm Plath recording the best nine hole score of 20.

In B Division John Hinton won, also with 40 points, from Rodney Wagner on 33, with Geoff Jarrett winning the best nine holes scoring 19 points.

John Hinton won the B Division approach on 1 & 10, while Blake Dowling was nearest the pin with his drive on 4 & 13 - 3.15 metres.

Next Saturday Clinton & Fiona Dowlings' Isis Tyres sponsor the day.  The competition will be a single stableford and not a fourball as originally advised.  It's always a great afternoon.

See you there for the 12:30pm hit off.

Vets

Over 40 players arrived for the stroke versus par competition held on Tuesday, with the round going smoothly in spite of the larger numbers.

Michael Stanton was the overall winner of the day with a creditable plus 3 for the 18 holes.  In A Division Gary Carlon won on plus 2, with runner up Paul McCarragher on plus 1 and Marg Dennett 2nd runner up, also on plus 1.  Helen Ricciardi won the best nine holes with plus 3.

Bob Fraser stayed level with par to win B Division from Bob Werne on minus 1, Chris Fitzsimmons 2nd runner up on minus 2, with Coralie Volgyesi winning the best nine holes with plus 3.

Kev Denham put his second shot in the hole on 1 & 10 to win the men's approach, while Robyn Robinson claimed the women's approach on 6 & 15, a centimetre from the pin, and the combined approach on 4 & 13, not quite so close.

Chook Run winners were: Robyn Robinson 31 nett, Coralie Volgyesi, Kev Savage, Rae McCliskie both on 32, and Marg Dennett, Col Dennett, Gary Carlon & Michael Stanton all on 33 nett.

Next week on March 03, we return to the popular single stableford.  See you there for the 12 noon hit off.
