Women

On last Thursday the club hosted the Wide Bay Veterans’ Association Medley Stableford so most of the ladies participated in that event, a successful one for the hosts.

This Thursday, the competition will be determined before the game.

On Saturday Vicki McAulay recorded 38 points in the club sponsored single stableford competition , winning from Jennifer McKay on 36, with rundowns to Joan Kelly on 35 and Lisa Cooney on 33.

Rae McCliskie (in the hole) won the approach on 6&15 in her return game after a break. Next Saturday we enjoy a single stableford again.

Men

As the recently cored, sanded and fertilised greens settle down, members are obviously finding it easier to putt, with many improved scores recorded in Saturday’s single stableford competition.

Dean Page won the day with 38 points on a countback from Len Stallard. Rundowns went to Garry Willoughby and Phil Luckett on 37 and Ken Albion and Craig Reynolds on 36.

Craig (3.73m) also won the A Division pinshot on 1&10 and Peter Hutton (1.7m) the B Division approach. No A Division reached the green on 4&13 but Roger Draper (10.05m) won the B Division pinshot there.

This Saturday, members will again enjoy a stableford competition, before the challenge of a single stroke on November Monthly Medal day.

A reminder: the annual Sponsors’ Appreciation Day occurs on November 12, providing the opportunity to show how much we do appreciate the support of all sponsors from within and outside the club.

Vets

The familiar and friendly single stableford competition attracted a strong field and good scoring on Tuesday afternoon, in the warm spring sunshine.

Cynthia Draper won A Division with 39 points from Vicki McAulay on 36 and Mark McAulay on 34.

Garry Willoughby won B Division with 45 points from Ray Burrowes on 42 and Marlena Schlechtriem on 39, high scoring indeed!

The ladies’ approaches on 6&15 was won by Cynthia Draper (0.54m); the men’s approach on 1&10 by Norm Plath (0.59m); the combined approach on 4&13 by Kev Denham (in the hole).

Darryl Johnstone with 23 nett recorded one of the lowest scores ever to win the first bird, with Ray Burrowes on 26 claiming the second - four players all recorded 29 nett with one missing out on the spin to win a bird:  Jenny McKay, Cynthia Draper and Joan Kelly did claim one each.

Sadly, our current President, Ian McKay and wife Jenny, are off to Canberra for a considerable period of time and will be greatly missed.

See you at noon for the hit-off for yet another single stableford.
