This Thursday we will again play a single stableford.

On Saturday Coralie Volgyesi recorded 71 nett to win the single stroke competition.  Val Plath was runner up on 75, with rundowns going to Sophie Martell & Joy Cartner both on 76.  Sophie won the approach on 4 & 13.

This Saturday we begin the Club Championships which run over 2 consecutive weekends.  We look forward to as many members as possible competing in the different grades.  Hit off is at the usual time of 12:30pm.

Men

A cool afternoon and brisk breeze welcomed members to the Club sponsored single stroke where only one player bettered par.

John Hinton showed what he is capable of, scoring a nett 63 to win A Division from Ray Walker on 73, runner up on a countback from Peter Hutton.

Visitor Jim Gleten with nett 70 won B Division from Roger Draper who scored 72 nett, runner up on a countback.

Peter Hutton won the A Division pinshot on 1 & 10, while Jim Gelten won the B Division approach on the same hole.  Ivan Philpott won the A Division pinshot on 4 & 13, while the B Division pinshot was a skinner.

In a tightly contested Match Play final, Rodney Wagner and Peter Russo won from Kieth Rule & Larry Pershouse at the 19th hole.  Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the losers.

Next Saturday the club championships begin.  Sadly Blake Dowling will not be here to defend his title, but father Clinton and brother Damien will no doubt be eager to reclaim the title.  The next 2 weekends offers the chance for all members to compete in the 3 grades, with the usual hit off time.

Vets

Another strong field contested the 2 person Ambrose competition with some excellent results recorded.

Adrian Martin & Ray Walker claimed the win with a nett 64.75, just half a shot lower than runners up Kev Denham & Ian McKay on 65.25.  They were just ahead of Phil Luckett and Dale Perrins on 65.5 - a very close competition indeed.

Other rundowns went to Jim Gelten & Roger Draper and to Mark & Vicki McAulay.  Kev Denham and Ian McKay won the approach on 1 & 10, and Kev Savage & Michael Stanton won the approach on 4 & 13.

No chook run this week, but it will return next week when we play a single stableford over 18 holes.  The usual 12 noon hit off
