Men

Saturday - A milder afternoon than usual welcomed members to the single stroke competition in the second week of the season.  The new set of handicaps seemed to motivate many players to produce their best scores for quite some time.

John Cole led the way with a nett 67 to win on a countback from Ross Nicol, while new member Craig Reynolds was next on 68. Rundowns went to John Mills (69), Geoff Jarrett and Norm Plath (71), Des Wicks and Bill Herring (73).

The A Division pinshot on 1 & 10 went to Dave Robinson and the approach to Ross Nicol.  Bill Herring placed his drive nearest the pin on 4 & 13 in A Division.

Next Saturday is our first Monthly Medal for the year.  See you there for the 12:30pm hit off.

Monday - Australia Day Public Holiday

The Australia Day Public Holiday stableford competition attracted a varied group in the blustery conditions, with no player managing to make par on the day.

Vicki McAulay's 34 points placed her first with Helen Ricciardi second on 33.  They were followed by some of the men - Kev Savage on 32, Ken Albion on 31 and Dave Robinson on 30 in a countback with Clinton Dowling.  Bob Champney won the best nine holes with 18 points.

The approach was another win for the women, with Fiona Dowling putting her second shot nearest the pin.

The mystery pairs stableford competition threw together some unusual pairs with interesting results.  Vicky Wyeth and Paul McCarragher combined well after the scores were in to record a total of 69 stableford points followed by Nigel Radin and Rose Cochrane on 67, with Norm Plath and Joan Kelly third on 64. Bill Herring and John Mills claimed the best nine holes on 34 after a spin.

Michael Hickey placed his second shot in the hole to win the men's approach, while Joy Cartner was just over half a metre from the hole to win the ladies approach.

Chook Run winners were: Paul McCarragher (30), Vicki Wyeth, Norm Plath and Ken Albion (31), Rose Cochrane and Nigel Radin (34) on a spin.

Next week we play a single stableford, with destiny in your own hands. Hit off at 12 noon.
