Golf Notes 30 September 2014

Vicki Wyeth again won the Thursday competition, a Mulligans with a nett score of 60 from Vicki McAulay on 66. This Thursday we play for the Monthly Goblet.

Women

Vicki Wyeth again won the Thursday competition, a Mulligans with a nett score of 60 from Vicki McAulay on 66.  This Thursday we play for the Monthly Goblet.

On Saturday we joined with the men in the President vs Captain's matchplay with Cynthia Draper and Fiona Dowling the two women winners - we won't mention the male member Fiona defeated.

Vicki McAulay managed to finish square with Jeff Freeman in a tight contest.  Cynthia became the women's Matchplay Champion in defeating Robyn Robinson.  In spite of rumours to the contrary, Cynthia also claimed the ladies' approach on 4 & 13.

This Saturday is the October Monthly Goblet. Please bring a plate for an after game snack.

Men

On Saturday the long overdue President vs Captain Teams' matchplay occurred with a goodly number present on a fine afternoon.  The President's team triumphed for the second successive year winning by 9 matches to 6 with 3 matches squared. Well played team members!

Jeff Freeman was nearest the pin with his approach on 1 & 10, while pinshot winners on 4 & 13 were Damien Dowling and Chris Fitzsimmons.

Mick Hickey defeated Kev Savage in their first round Seb's matchplay while Mark McAulay progressed at the expense of Roger Draper in their second round clash.  Remaining qualifiers please check the board and arrange your next match with your opponent.

Larry Pershouse and Kieth Rule are still waiting to see who they'll play in their search for a victory in the final of the championships pairs' matchplay.

This Saturday we play for the October monthly medals which is our second last chance for 2014.  Remember to bring a plate for an after game snack.

Vets

The warm weather for the last day in September attracted a large field for the single stableford competition substituted for the programmed stroke versus par.

Three golfers recorded 39 points with Col Dennett being declared the outright winner on a countback from Nigel Radin and Bob Werne, with Nigel becoming the A Division winner and Bob the B Division winner.

Norm Plath on 38 was runner up in A division with Adrian Martin on 23 points claiming the best nine hole score.  Vicki Wyeth was runner up, also on 38 points, with Vicki McAulay's 22 points earning her the best nine hole score. 

Barry Steinke won the men's approach on 1 & 10, while Vicki McAulay won the women's approach on 4 & 13, a little closer to the hole.

Adrian Martin led the Chook Run winners with a nett score of 28, followed by Barry Steinke, Robyn Robinson and Vicki McAulay on 31, with Vicki Wyeth and Bob Cochrane both on 32.

Next Tuesday we again play a single stableford competition.  See you there for the 12 noon hit off!

A reminder to all that Monday being a public holiday we are running an 18 hole BBB competition with hit off at 12:30pm for all those golfing addicts.
