Golf Notes 04 October 2016

On Thursday Di Rowley with 29.5 nett won the secret nine hole competition, while Merryn Henke won the 18 hole competition with 66 nett. Rundowns went to Rose Cochrane on 67 and Margaret Dennett on 71.

Women

On Thursday Di Rowley with 29.5 nett won the secret nine hole competition, while Merryn Henke won the 18 hole competition with 66 nett.  Rundowns went to Rose Cochrane on 67 and Margaret Dennett on 71.

Merryn (1.3m) also won the approach. This Thursday’s competition is to be arranged.

On Saturday Monica Madsen won the Monthly Medal with 69 nett from Joan Wright, Vicki McAulay (both 71 nett) and Kerry Schnack on 73.

Helen Ricciardi put her second shot in the hole on 6 &15 claim the ladies’ approach.

A big thank you to those who brought a plate and those who prepared the tasty after game supper.  This Saturday, we play our favourite, the single stableford competition.

Men

Members competed for the October Monthly Medals on Saturday, with some impressive scores recorded.

In A Division Ivan Philpott returned a nett 66, just one better than Kev Savage, unlucky on 67. Larry Pershouse scored a remarkable 63 nett to win B Division from Michael Stanton on 72.  Rundowns went to Phil Luckett (70), Peter Hrelja (71) and Bill Herring (72).

Peter Hrelja won both A Division pinshots on 1&10 (1.87m) and 4&13 (9.2m), while Mark McAulay (0.39m) won the B Division approach on 1&10 and Wesley Hinton (8.5m) the B Division pinshot on 4&13.

Thank you to all members who brought a plate with a tasty range of delicacies to enjoy. This weekend we return for a favoured single stableford competition.  

Monday's 4BBB Competition

Hoss Eberl led the small field home with a score of 40 points in the BBB stableford held on the Queen’s Birthday holiday. Chris Crouch recorded 38 points to come second, ahead of Michael Hickey on 37 and Merryn Henke on 36 points. Thankfully the rain held off till after the players were all in.

Vets

The par event in the second round of the Cooper Cup competition for 2016 as usual proved quite challenging for most players.
In A Division Bill Herring recorded plus 4 to win from Kieth Rule on plus 1, ahead of Craig Reynolds on square, third on a countback from Norm Plath.

Lisa Cooney won B Division with a square on a countback from Ray Burrowes, with Monica Madsen third on minus 1.
The approaches were won by: Norm Plath (0.365m) for the men on 1&10; Joy Cartner (1.58m) for the ladies on 6&15; and Bill Herring (.061m) for the combined approach on 4&13.

Bill Herring led the Chook Run winners with a nett 31score, from Vicki McAulay and Norm Plath both on 32, Joy Cartner on 33, winning the last bird on a spin from 5 others.
