Golf Notes 05 July 2016

On Thursday Diane Rowley won the ladies competition with 31 stableford points. Diane was one ahead of Joan Wright, while Cecily Fay took the approach shot.

Women

On Thursday Diane Rowley won the Ladies’ stableford competition with 31 points, one ahead of Joan Wright. Cecily Fay (0.79m) won the approach.

This Thursday’s competition will be the Thursday Monthly Medal stroke event for July.

Fiona Dowling continued her winning form to claim the Saturday Monthly Medal for July, with a nett 76 from Lisa Cooney on 77. Cynthia Draper (0.90m) won the approach on 6&15.

This Saturday, members will participate in the annual President versus Captain’s Matchplay competition, with a draw for membership of the two teams.

Men

Numbers were a little low for the July Monthly Medal stroke competition on a classic sunny winter day.

Kev Savage recorded nett 71 to win the A Division Medal from Kieth Rule on 73. Ben Van Der Valk’s 69 nett was the best of the day and won him the B Division Medal from Ken Albion on 71, second on a countback from Len Stallard.

Rundowns went to Len, Ivan Philpott (72) and Bob Champney (73).  Ivan (0.1m) claimed the B Division approach on 1&10 – no pinshots were claimed on the day.

This Saturday, July 9, members play in the President versus Captain’s Match Play event, with a draw for the two teams on Saturday, July 9. It is the final opportunity for members to complete their match in the Seb and Allan’s Matchplay championship.

Vets

A small field enjoyed the single stableford competition in near-perfect golfing conditions following the morning showers which may have deterred others.

Nigel Radin won A Division with 36 points on a countback from Cynthia Draper with Peter Hrelja third on 34 points. Harry Zawacki played his best round ever to record 39 points just one point ahead of Ian McKay, with Lisa Cooney third on 34 points.

Nigel (0.65m) won the Men’s approach on &10; also (0.17m) the Combined approach on 4&13; Cynthia (0.61m) the Ladies’ approach on 6&15.

Harry led the Chook Run with 28 nett from Lisa on 31.

Next Tuesday we play another single stableford before the single stroke the following Tuesday, V.I.P. day sponsored by the Woodgate gang.
