On Saturday only two players arrived for the Saturday February Medal and played a friendly game with no score recorded. As for the men, next Saturday ladies play in the qualifying round of the 4 ball Match Play championship.

Nominations for Women’s Country Week open on February 18.

Men

The recent heavy rain resulted in few members arriving for the February Monthly Medal. After an early shower players enjoyed a rain free round on a heavy track.

In A Division Ray Walker recorded 72 nett to win from John Hinton on 73. In B Division Ted Buckland bettered par with a fine nett 67 to claim the Medal from Ross Nicol on 70. John Hinton (4.78m) also was nearest the pin on 4&13 in A Division.

Next Saturday members play the qualifying round of the 4 ball Match Play championship. Be there with your partner for the 12:30 p.m. hit-off.

Vets

The first rain-free golf day ensured that a goodly number of Vets arrived for the four ball best ball stableford competition.

Bill Cowan and Bob Champney made the most of the pleasant conditions and recorded a fine score of 47 points, closely followed by Bill Herring and Craig Reynolds on 46. Third place went to Nigel Radin and Kev Denham.

The approach shots were won by: Nigel Radin (in the hole) for the Men’s approach on 1&10; Monica Madsen (0.30m) for the Ladies’ approach on 6&15; Kev Denham (0.10m) for the Combined approach on 4&13.

Craig Reynolds led the Chook Run winners with 29 nett, from Ted Buckland, Nigel Radin (31), Terry Smallman, Bill Herring and Rae McCliskie (32) on a spin.

Next week is the February V.I.P. stroke competition sponsored by Bill Herring and Craig Reynolds – see you there for the 12 noon hit-off.
