Golf Notes 15 March 2016

Kerry Schnack continues her winning run on Thursdays with her 38 stableford points placing Joy Cartner second on 35. Rundowns went to Coralie Volgyesi and Vicki McAulay. Margaret Dennett won the approach.

Kerry Schnack continues her winning run on Thursdays with her 38 stableford points placing Joy Cartner second on 35.  Rundowns went to Coralie Volgyesi and Vicki McAulay.  Margaret Dennett won the approach.

Next Thursday ladies will play a single stroke round.

Ladies’ captain Joan Kelly recorded 39 points to win the club-sponsored single stableford competition on Saturday, from Cynthia Draper on 37 points. Vicki McAulay (31) won a rundown. Marlene Schlechtriem (0.68m) won the ladies’ approach on 4&13.

Birdies on number one were recorded by: Cynthia, Coralie, Vicki Mc, Monica and Joan K – clever indexing!

Next Saturday we play in the 3-Person Ambrose on the Isis Mill Traders’ Day – be there with your team by 11:a.m. for an early start.

Men

Members enjoyed the club sponsored single stableford competition on Saturday.  Ivan Philpott and Kieth Rule both recorded 40 points, with Ivan winning on a countback. Phil Luckett was third with 37 points, also on a countback from Mark McAulay who led the rundowns, followed by Craig Reynolds, Clinton Dowling (36) and Lazlo Volgyesi (35).

Nigel Radin (3.88m) with his first shot of the day placed it close to win the A Division pinshot on 1&10, with Ivan Philpott (1.1m) winning the B Division approach. Clinton Dowling (1.79m) won the A Division pinshot on 4&13, with no B Division player putting his drive on the green.

This weekend a packed program, with the 3-Person Ambrose on Saturday sponsored by the Isis Mill Traders (be there by 11:00 a.m. for an early start).

On Sunday it is our Isis Men’s Open Day sponsored by a strong perennial supporter in House of Golf, many thanks from our club members.  Shotgun starts at 7:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. – please nominate no later than Thursday.

Vets

The Rusty Usmar sponsored V.I.P. Monthly Stroke competition drew a large field with some top scores leading the field.
In Men’s A Division, Nigel Radin recorded 65 nett to win comfortably from Phil Luckett on 70, second on a countback from Kev Savage.

John Henderson won B Division with 65 nett also, from Ray Burrowes on 70 and Kev Denham on 71.  Marlene Schlechtriem scored 69 nett to win her first Isis competition comfortably from Marg Dennett on 73, with Cynthia Draper third on a countback from Robyn Robinson.

The approach winners on 1&10 were: John Henderson (i.t.h.), Ray Burrowes (i.t.h.), and Cynthia Draper (1.67m); on 4&13, Nigel Radin (i.t.h.), Vin Kennedy (0.87m), and Robyn Robinson (0.685m); on 6&15, Clinton Dowling (0.26m), Cynthia Draper (0.057m).

John Henderson (31 nett) again led the Chook Run winners followed by Kev Savage, Marg Dennett (32), Phil Luckett, Nigel Radin and Ed Connell (33).
