Golf Notes 16 February 2016

On Thursday Kerry Schnack won the single stableford competition with 36 points and also the approach being 0.52m from the hole with her second shot. Diane Rowley (35), Vicki Wyeth (32) and Coralie Volgyesi (30) received rundowns.

Women

Next Thursday we play a single stroke competition. The Burrum Ladies’ Carnival is on March 6, so nominate by the week before.

Nominations for Women’s Country Week open on February 18.

Cynthia Draper with 38 points led the field in the single stableford competition held on Saturday from Helen Ricciardi on 34, with rundowns to Kerry Schnack and Rae McCliskie (34).

Next Saturday members play a single stableford competition.

Men

A showery afternoon welcomed members playing the qualifying round of the 4 ball Match Play championship. Kieth Rule and Larry Pershouse scored an impressive 50 stableford points to top the qualifiers with playing opponents Roger Draper and Ivan Philpott second on 44 points. Michael Stanton and Damien Dowling were third on a countback.

Kev Savage put his drive 1.55m from the hole to win the A Division pinshot on 1&10, while Ken Albion (3.05m) won the B Division approach. On 4&13 Kieth Rule (10.1m) won the A Division pinshot and Ivan Philpott (6.99m) the B Division pinshot.

Qualifying pairs for the 4 ball Matchplay Championship are: K.Rule/L.Pershouse v T.Smallman/B.Cowan; C.Dowling/S.Cole v J.Cole/J.Cole; R.Draper/I.Philpott v P.Steel/N/Radin; M.Stanton/D.Dowling v B.Herring/C.Reynolds.

Qualifiers are reminded that the first round of the championship is to be completed by March 12.

Next Saturday members play a club sponsored single stableford competition, with the Isis Tyres sponsored day the following Saturday.

Vets

Bill Herring and Craig Reynolds sponsored the V.I.P. single stroke competition for February, with the usual well-attended game.

Nigel Radin won the Men’s A Division competition with 68 nett from Clinton Dowling runner-up on 69. Stephen was third with 70 nett on a countback.

Ted Buckland recorded another splendid score, recording 63 nett to win B Division from Norm Plath on 69, with Paul McCarragher third with 70 nett on a countback. 

Cynthia Draper won the Ladies’ Division with 69 nett from Joy Cartner on 71.  Chris White (in the hole) won the Men’s approach on 4&13, while Rae McCliskie (0.34m) won the Ladies’ approach.

Ted Buckland led the Chook Run winners with nett 29, from Ray Burrowes on 31, with Craig Reynolds, Joy Cartner, Cynthia Draper, Phil Luckett and Norm Plath (32) also receiving a bird.
