Golf Notes 23 August 2016

On Thursday the ladies played a par event which was won by Joy Cartner on plus 2, on a countback from Diane Rowley. Rose Cochrane won the rundown. Next Thursday we play a single stableford.

Women

On Thursday the ladies played a par event which was won by Joy Cartner on plus 2, on a countback from Diane Rowley.  Rose Cochrane won the rundown.  Next Thursday we play a single stableford.

On Saturday the women played an IGA sponsored single stableford won by Jennifer McKay with 39 points from Joan Wright on 38, with Val Plath third on 34 points.

Fiona Dowling (0.45m) won the approach on 4&13 and also claimed a silver circle on 6&15, her pinshot finishing 2.40m from the hole.

Isis Ladies’ Open Carnival

A gathering of ladies, representative of the Wide Bay clubs, joined with Isis members in the annual Open Carnival hosted by the Isis Golf Club. Division One players competed in a stroke gross and nett event, while Division Two players competed in a single stableford event.

Jill Rogers with 79 off the stick won Division 1 from Kath Nelson on 83, while Rae McCliskie with nett 70 won from Kerry Schnack on 71.

Joy Cartner with a score of 40 points won Division 2 from Lisa Cooney on 39, with Valmai Mite 3rd and Penny Teiniker 4th.
All players showed their appreciation of the catering and service generally, given by the male members and of course June Radin.

Men

Another warm springlike afternoon welcomed members and visitors to the IGA sponsored single stableford. Many players in the pleasant conditions recorded better than par nett scores.

Wesley Hinton in his first adult competition collected 42 points to win the day from Phil Luckett on 39 points. Rundowns went to Jeff Freeman, Ivan Philpott and John Hinton all on 38 points.

Craig Reynolds (5.72m) won the A Division pinshot on 1&10, with Michael Stanton (0.85m) winning the B Division approach. On 4&13, Peter Hrelja (3.75) won the A Division pinshot and Jeff Freeman (4.93m) the B Division pinshot.

Damien Dowling scored an eagle 3 on the very difficult par 5 18th hole - congratulations Damien.

Vets

As usual the single stableford competition attracted a goodly number with some very fine scores recorded.

In A Division Vicki McAulay scored 40 points to outscore husband Mark on 38 points, with Kieth Rule third on 37, on a countback from Peter Hrelja.

Len Stallard ran away with B Division scoring 42 points, with Vicki Wyeth runner-up on 39. Lisa Cooney with 38 points came third on a countback from Michael Stanton.

The approach shots were won by:  Paul McCarragher (in the hole) for the men on 1&10; Peter Hrelja (.085m) for the Combined on 4&13; and Vicki McAulay (.615m) for the ladies on 6&15. Bonus approaches were given to Kieth Rule (0.05m) on 1&10 and Joan Kelly (3.42m) on 4&13.

Paul McCarragher and Michael Stanton led the Chook Run winners with 29 nett from Kev Denham, Len Stallard and Vicki McAulay all on 30 nett.
