Golf Notes 26 April 2016

Vicki McAulay and Coralie Volgyesi scored 68.5 net to win the 2 person Ambrose on Thursday, from Joan Kelly and Rose Cochrane on 70.75 nett.

Women

Vicki McAulay and Coralie Volgyesi scored 68.5 nett to win the two-person Ambrose on Thursday, from Joan Kelly and Rose Cochrane on 70.75 nett. Joan and Rose (0.11m) also won the approach.

This Thursday we play a single stroke competition.

In the Saturday single stableford competition Lisa Cooney recorded 36 points to win from Jenifer McKay and Fiona Dowling (34). Helen Ricciardi (0.05cm) won the approach on 4 & 13.

The ANZAC Day stroke for the Marge Ruddy Memorial trophy saw Fiona Dowling produce her best form for some time, scoring nett 67 to win from Joan Wright with 74, second on a countback from Cynthia Draper, with Val Plath on 75 winning a rundown. Marg Dennett (0.40m) won the ladies’ approach.

Next Saturday we play in a club sponsored single stroke competition, while on Monday’s Labour Day we play in the usual
BBB single stableford competition.

Men

On Saturday the single stableford club sponsored competition featured many fine scores, with three eagles being recorded by Ivan Philpott on number 7, Kev Savage on number 3 and Blake Dowling on number 18.

On his first day back Ian McKay won the competition with 41 points from Kev Savage with 38 points, second on a countback Terry Smallman, third on a countback from Blake Dowling (his 68 off the stick two under par. Other rundowns went to Clinton Dowling (37), Norm Plath and Peter Hutton (36)

Ian (0.34M) also won the approach on 1 & 10; Damien Dowling (9.8m) won the pinshot on 4 & 13.

Damien also partnered Michael Stanton to win their pairs’ matchplay against Ivan Philpott and Roger Draper at the 18th hole.
On ANZAC Day a competitive group played a single stableford for a BBB, with Harry Zawacki recording 41 points to win from Damien Dowling on 38, with rundowns to Larry Pershouse, Phil Luckett, Len Stallard (34) and Clinton Dowling on 32. Larry also won the B Division approach on 1 & 10.

Next Saturday we play a club sponsored single stableford again, remembering that on Monday’s Labour Day we play another BBB stableford competition.

Vets

The blustery conditions saw only one par score for the single stableford round, which was 36 points recorded by Rusty Usmar, winner of B Division, from Larry Volgyesi (33) and Ken Albion (32).

In A Division there were 3 players with 34 points, with Peter Hrelja winning on countback from Dave Robinson, second on countback from Robyn Robinson.

Kev Denham (0.16m) won the men’s approach on 1 & 10; Cynthia Draper (1.6m) won the ladies’ approach on 6 & 15; and Rusty Usmar (0.28m) won the combined approach on 4 & 13.

Robyn Robinson led the Chook Run winners with 29 nett, from Mark McAulay (31), Kev Denham and Kaz Jeffery (33) after a spin.
